In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing and executing support programs addressing the needs of service members and their families, providing program oversight regarding educational and employment needs of the military spouse community, collaborating with various stakeholders, and delivering presentations or training on services available for service members and their families. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

- Support policy and programmatic endeavors that address the needs and challenges of Service members and their families with a primary emphasis on the ongoing educational and employment needs of the military spouse community.
- Provide leadership and contractual oversight to the Department's Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) Career Center.
- Establish and nurture relationships with national, state, local, and military leaders with vested interests in improving quality of life for service members and their families.
- Conduct special assignments on complex high-priority issues in which the scope frequently alters as the work progresses.
- Review assigned programs for potential efficiencies based on joint service initiatives and/or federal partnership opportunities.
- Deliver presentation and provide training to military and civilian audiences on programs and services available for service members and their families.
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate contracts for service member and family programs and services.
