Position Title: Maintenance Machinist — Aircraft Landing Gear & Component Overhaul

POSITION OVERVIEW
STi is seeking experienced Maintenance Machinists to support the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) and Ogden Air Logistics Complex (OO-ALC) under the Depot On-Site Contract Augmentee Teams 5 (DOCAT5) Task Order at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.
This effort supports the 532nd Commodities Maintenance Squadron (CMMXS) within the 309th Commodities Maintenance Group (CMXG). Personnel will support depot-level aircraft sustainment operations focused on the repair, overhaul, fabrication, restoration, modification, and precision machining of aircraft landing gear components, wheels, brakes, and related aircraft assemblies.
The ideal candidate has hands-on machine shop experience, strong blueprint and technical drawing interpretation skills, and experience operating conventional and/or CNC equipment in a manufacturing, maintenance, repair, overhaul, or depot environment. This role is well-suited for machinists with aerospace, military maintenance, depot repair, landing gear, precision component repair, or close-tolerance machining experience.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include:
· Interpret technical orders, engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, work instructions, and written guidance to plan machining operations.
· Set up and operate machine shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment, and related machine tools.
· Fabricate, restore, modify, and repair aircraft landing gear components and related assemblies.
· Support depot-level overhaul and repair operations involving aircraft landing gear, wheels, brakes, hydraulic systems, pneudraulic systems, and related aircraft components.
· Perform machining computations involving dimensions, tolerances, feeds, speeds, tooling requirements, and material requirements.
· Use machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments to verify compliance with engineering specifications and close-tolerance requirements.
· Select appropriate materials, parts, tooling, equipment, and machining methods required to complete assigned work.
· Fit, assemble, and verify proper function of machined components within aircraft landing gear systems and assemblies.
· Apply knowledge of common metals, material properties, machining processes, and aircraft component repair standards.
· Ensure all machining work complies with applicable technical orders, safety requirements, quality standards, and local operating procedures.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with Air Force, OSHA, and shop safety requirements.
· Coordinate effectively with Government supervisors, inspectors, engineers, work leads, and maintenance personnel to support production schedules and mission requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
U.S. Citizenship required. Active Secret clearance required at start.
· Formal machinist apprenticeship, vocational training, military technical training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Experience operating conventional and/or CNC machine tools in a manufacturing, maintenance, repair, overhaul, machine shop, or depot environment.
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical manuals, specifications, and written work instructions.
· Experience using machinist hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and standard machine shop equipment.
· Ability to perform machining calculations involving dimensions, tolerances, feeds, speeds, tooling, and material requirements.
· Knowledge of common metals, material properties, and machining processes.
· Ability to fabricate, restore, modify, repair, fit, assemble, or verify metal parts and mechanical components.
· Ability to work safely in an industrial, depot, production, or military maintenance environment.
· Ability to follow technical orders, safety requirements, quality standards, and work instructions.
· Ability to coordinate professionally with Government and contractor maintenance teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Prior experience supporting Hill AFB, Ogden Air Logistics Complex, Air Force Sustainment Center, 309 CMXG, 532 CMMXS, or comparable Air Force depot maintenance environments.
· Experience machining, repairing, or overhauling aircraft landing gear, wheels, brakes, hydraulic components, pneudraulic components, or aerospace mechanical assemblies.
· Experience working in an aerospace, defense, military, aviation, MRO, or depot-level maintenance environment.
· Experience with close-tolerance machining for aircraft, military, industrial, or mission-critical components.
· Experience operating lathes, mills, grinders, CNC machines, and precision measurement equipment.
· Experience with technical orders, engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, process specifications, and quality inspection requirements.
· Prior military aircraft maintenance, aircraft component repair, machine shop, manufacturing, or precision machining experience.
· Strong attention to detail, safety discipline, quality awareness, and ability to meet production timelines in a regulated maintenance environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Work will be performed on-site at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.
· Support will be provided within depot-level maintenance and commodities repair environments supporting the 532nd CMMXS landing gear, wheels, brakes, and overhaul mission.
· Work may occur in machine shop, production, industrial, depot, hangar, or maintenance work-center settings.
· Personnel may be required to use PPE and comply with applicable safety, tool control, quality, and technical publication requirements.
· Personnel must be able to work in a hands-on maintenance and machining environment requiring standing, walking, bending, lifting, use of tools, and work around aircraft components and industrial equipment.
· Shift schedules may include day shift, swing shift, or schedule changes based on mission requirements.
