Description
Program Manager, AI Governance Enablement
External Job Description
Finance Operations (FinOps) is seeking an L5 Program Manager to lead AI Governance Enablement across FinOps Service Centers (SCs). This role will design and operationalize governance frameworks that ensure AI solutions built by employees move from prototype to production responsibly - meeting security, compliance, and data privacy standards without slowing innovation. This role requires someone who can build structure where none exists, translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable guidance, and serve as the bridge between builders and governance teams.
You will own the governance enablement pipeline - tracking solutions from ideation through formal sign-off, building self-service toolkits that help builders get it right the first time, and partnering with FinOps Risk Governance (FORGE) and Controllership teams to ensure every solution meets the bar before deployment. Success is measured not by how many solutions you block, but by how many you help clear - faster, with fewer iterations, and with full compliance intact.
Key Job Responsibilities
Governance Enablement & Frameworks
• Design and maintain governance enablement frameworks that guide employees from prototype to production-ready solutions, reducing rework and accelerating time-to-clearance
• Build self-service toolkits, checklists, and playbooks that help builders understand what "good" looks like before they submit for formal review
• Create role-specific governance guidance for different solution types (automation, agentic AI, data-driven tools) across regulatory environments
Partnership with Amazon Responsible AI / FORGE / Controllership
• Serve as the operational bridge between builders and FORGE - ensuring solutions arrive at review well-prepared and complete
• Maintain regular cadence with Amazon Responsible AI and FORGE teams to stay current on evolving standards, policy updates, and compliance requirements
• Identify patterns in review feedback and work with FORGE to create scalable solutions that address recurring gaps
Risk Visibility & Monitoring
• Own the AI solution risk register - tracking all active prototypes, their governance status, risk classification, and deployment readiness
• Build and maintain governance dashboards that provide leadership with real-time visibility into pipeline health, clearance rates, and compliance posture
• Conduct periodic risk assessments across deployed solutions and flag emerging concerns before they become incidents
Governance Awareness & Culture
• Drive governance awareness programs that help employees understand why governance exists and how to work with it - not around it
• Support AI Prototyping Camps with on-the-ground governance guidance, helping builders embed compliance from day one
• Translate regulatory requirements (DPDP Act, EU AI Act, SOX) into plain-language guidance that non-technical employees can act on
Measurement & Continuous Improvement
• Define and track governance KPIs: time-to-clearance, first-pass approval rate, unreviewed deployment count, risk register coverage
• Conduct quarterly governance maturity assessments and recommend improvements to frameworks based on builder feedback and review outcomes
• Establish feedback loops between builders, governance reviewers, and program leadership to continuously improve the enablement experience
Basic Qualifications
• 8+ years of professional experience with 5+ years in program management, governance, risk management, or compliance roles
• Demonstrated ability to build frameworks and processes from scratch in ambiguous environments
• Working knowledge of AI/ML fundamentals and responsible AI principles
• Experience managing cross-functional stakeholder relationships and influencing without direct authority
• Strong documentation, communication, and data analysis skills
• Background in finance operations, shared services, or similar operational environments preferred
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with global cross-functional teams across multiple time zones
• Familiarity with DPDP Act 2023, EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, or ISO/IEC 42001
• Certification in risk management (CRISC, CISM), privacy (CDPSE), or project management (PMP, Agile)
• Experience with Amazon Q, Bedrock, or low-code AI platforms
• Track record of operationalizing governance for a function that previously had no formal framework
• SOX compliance exposure, particularly related to AI-augmented financial processes
• MBA or advanced degree in Business, Technology, Risk Management, or related field
Basic Qualifications
- 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
- 6+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience
- Bachelor's degree
- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- • 8+ years of professional experience with 5+ years in program management, governance, risk management, or compliance roles • Demonstrated ability to build frameworks and processes from scratch in ambiguous environments • Working knowledge of AI/ML fundamentals and responsible AI principles • Experience managing cross-functional stakeholder relationships and influencing without direct authority • Strong documentation, communication, and data analysis skills • Background in finance operations, shared services, or similar operational environments preferred
