Position Summary
Fusion is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to support classified, mission critical construction projects for federal clients in the National Capital Region. Candidates must have an active TS to be considered,TS/ SCI preferred. The selected candidate will support the design, review, and execution of secure facility projects with a focus on vertical construction, structural integrity, and site related civil requirements.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer with 5+ years of experience who wants to make a direct impact on secure federal infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with diverse teams and federal partners to deliver complex, high visibility projects.

Key Responsibilities:
Design and Technical Review
• Develop and review civil/structural plans, grading designs, utility layouts, and site configurations
• Perform technical reviews of design packages, construction documents, and contractor submissions
• Apply and Interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract requirements
• Maintain documentation for project closeout, turnover, and secure design control

Field and Site Work
• Provide field engineering support, including site investigations and construction observation
• Conduct as built verifications and assess existing conditions

Security, Criteria, and Compliance
• Assess and enhance building and site security using drawings and supporting documentation
• Support stormwater management design and compliance (SWPPP, MS4, etc.)
• Ensure compliance with UFC, AT/FP, DoD criteria, and applicable building codes
• Coordinate with local authorities and regulatory agencies

Project Coordination and Documentation
• Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and agency coordination sessions
• Support development of program strategy, schedules, budgets, and planning documents
• Assist in preparing scopes of work (SOWs) and acquisition packages

Program and Acquisition Support
• Support development of program strategy, schedules, budgets, and planning documents
• Assist in preparing scopes of work (SOWs) and acquisition packages

Construction and Specialized Tools
• Support large construction projects and interface with contractors, subcontractors, owners’ reps, and design teams
• Utilize blast effect modeling tools

Qualifications & Requirements:
Required Qualifications & Education
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management from an ABET accredited university
• Minimum of 5 years of civil/structural engineering and vertical construction experience
• Experience with DoD or secure facility projects, knowledge of UFC, AT/FP, and secure design requirements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work safely on active construction sites and comply with PPE requirements

Certifications & Technical Skills
• PE (Professional Engineer) license (preferred) or EIT with defined path to licensure
• LEED, CPESC, or similar certifications
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar design tools
• Experience using blast-effect modeling tools (VAPO, 3D Blast, Urban Blast Tool, Extreme Loading for Structures, etc.)
• Working knowledge of grading, drainage, utility coordination, and erosion control
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with SCIF/SAPF, AT/FP standards, or secure campus development
• Familiarity with geotechnical analysis, soil stabilization, and pavement design
• Experience with large government, mission-critical, or embassy-level construction projects

Security Clearance Requirement
• Must be able to obtain and maintain additional clearance at the necessary level for assigned duties

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
• Ability to work in high-security environments requiring strict access controls and security protocols
• Work in indoor and outdoor environments, including near high-voltage switchgear and substations
• Requires lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces
• Occasional travel to other sites or campuses as needed.
