Overview

SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR (WINDOWS) (RDTE)

Bowhead is seeking a dedicated and experienced Windows System Administrator to join our IT team in Dahlren, VA. In this role, you will be part of a team for our Windows 11 desktop environment while also taking on critical responsibilities managing our Windows Server infrastructure. A significant focus of this position includes overseeing system updates, patch management, and maintaining software licensing compliance for applications hosted on our servers.

Responsibilities

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for:
  • The installation, operation, configuration, customization and usage of assigned products installed on Windows 11 Computers.
  • Track, manage, deploy, audit and troubleshoot software licenses hosted on Windows Servers to ensure strict vendor compliance and efficient resource allocation.
  • Candidate must demonstrate familiarity with VM/vSphere environments, including experience managing and configuring virtual machines and VM servers.
  • Applying advanced diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes and recommend solutions to correct common failures.
  • Specific support consists of troubleshooting hardware, software, and network related issues encountered by users.
  • Hardware support includes PCs, printers, scanners, and Common Access Cards (CAC) , etc .
  • Software support includes but is not limited to Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office 365, and various specialty engineering and scientific development software/tools.
  • Ability to conduct ACAS scans and effectively remediate identified vulnerabilities.
  • Installation of new software releases, system upgrades, evaluation, and installation of patches and to resolve software related issues and Information Assurance Vulnerabilities (IAVs).
  • Systems Administrator will utilize ServiceNow to maintain the established Incident Tickets and Change Request process to track support .
  • Maintain and develop IT related standard operating procedures required to support the organization.
  • Support also includes working with the organizations Information System Security Officer (ISSO) for achieving system accreditation.
  • Provide recommendation s to future IT needs of the organization.
  • Work independently as well as in a support environment to meet deadlines while simultaneously performing multiple tasks.
  • Work with the Help Desk; but also with various Department Points of contacts as needed to resolve customer problems.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to produce system specifications, design requirements, test evaluation planning documents, and technical publications and reports.
  • Scripting knowledge is a plus, with Powershell , PowerCLI or another language.


Qualifications

  • A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrates strong troubleshooting skills along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and assist others to resolve IT related issues is essential.
  • Must have knowledge in the installation, maintenance, and administration of computer systems in a LAN/WAN environment.
  • Requires a strong understanding of current Microsoft supported Windows operating systems.
  • An understanding of Linux operating systems is desirable.
  • Requires a high level of competency in both written and oral communications skills is strongly desired with ability to work in a team environment.
  • DoD Directive 8570.1 Information Assurance Technical Level II certification required (i.e., Security+ CE, GSEC, SSCP, or CCNA-Security).
  • Familiarity with the Department of Defense (DOD) networking and security accreditation processes and procedures is required.
  • A working knowledge of Windows Active Directory is required.
  • A working knowledge of current Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Knowledge of Nessus ACAS tool.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift up to 10-25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Top Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Top Secret clearance at this location
