Job Description:
The Contractor Safety Manager (Contract) is a critical role within the North America Health & Safety Center of Excellence (NA H&S CoE), serving as the primary lead for all strategies and initiatives related to Contractor Safety Management. The Contractor Safety Manager ensures that the regional Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) effectively integrate external service providers, ensuring that every contractor and supplier aligns with North America safety standards. The Contractor Safety Manager is responsible for monitoring and tracking the progress and performance of the contractor safety program using established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
As the Business Responsible for OHSMS services specifically tied to 3rd party management, the Contractor Safety Manager oversees the selection, implementation, and administration of contractor safety management software solutions. Furthermore, the Contractor Safety Manager works closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders in Procurement, Production, Security and Facilities to facilitate and support the ongoing evolution of contractor safety culture and organizational change. This role will report directly to the NA H&S CoE Compliance and Governance Manager.
Duties:
Serve as the primary administrator and process owner for 3rd party contractor safety management software.
Ensure the platform is configured to reflect site-specific risk profiles and compliance requirements.
Support site incident management policies and procedures, including the integration of contractor data into digital incident management platforms.
Monitor and track the performance of OHSMS software solutions to ensure they provide actionable safety intelligence regarding vendor risk and compliance levels.
Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) (40%)
Lead regional-level initiatives that align contractor activities with the overarching OHSMS strategies and safety goals.
Develop and implement technical documents including policies, procedures, programs, and guidance documents pertaining to Supplier and Contractor Safety Management.
Work directly with principal key stakeholders in Procurement, Production, Facilities, and Security to ensure compliance with the Supplier and Contractor Safety program.
Responsible for the technical steering of suppliers and contractors to ensure adherence to program requirements and safety expectations.
Partner with senior leadership to facilitate and support the ongoing evolution of safety culture and contractor management processes across the region.
Manage the Supplier and Contractor audit and inspection process; conduct audits, produce reports, and lead briefings on findings, corrective actions, and recovery plans.
Function as the Health and Safety subject matter expert for risk assessments pertaining to contractor work packages and high-risk activities.
Support the development of recovery plans for non-compliance items identified during the audit process to ensure continuous improvement.
Responsible for monitoring and tracking the progress of contractor safety initiatives using established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive program success.
Participate as a member of the core investigation team for any safety incidents involving 3rd party services or contractors.
Required:
Bachelor Degree in industrial and/or Environmental, Health and Safety Engineering or related fields, or certification or an equivalent amount of experience
5+ Years of health and Safety experience required in an industrial production or aviation maintenance environment.
Contractor Management: Proven experience in managing complex contractor safety programs and managing 3rd party software services.
Project Leadership: Experience leading regional-level safety projects with a focus on vendor compliance and procurement integration.
Proficiency in project management tools and software.
Deep working knowledge of Health and Safety data software, database management, and the Google Platform.
Passionate about people and environment, ability to influence.
Working knowledge of environmental, health, and safety data software or database.
Ability to understand and apply federal, state and local environmental, health, and safety laws.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form.
Ability to maintain and ensure the confidential nature of the position.
Fluent written and spoken English.
Written, presentation and oral communication, interpersonal and consultative skills, as well as effective result-oriented problem solving skills.
Preferred Experience
5+ years managing 3rd party contractor safety management software.
Experience working in complex, matrixed organizational structures.
Experience in Aerospace Manufacturing.
French, German or Spanish preferred
Licensure/Certifications Preferred:
CSP, SMS, TSP, GSP, ASP, OSHA 501, OSHA 511
