Position Title: Medical Laboratory Technologist
Division: 1 Health
Locations: Yokota, Japan; Masawa, Japan
** Position contingent upon award of contract, government acceptance of candidate, and positive adjudication of government investigation.
Position Summary

We are seeking Medical Laboratory Technologists for a long-term contract providing personal medical services in support of the Department of Defense (DoD) at Yokota and Misawa Airbases in Japan. As part of the 1 Health Solutions team, healthcare workers (HCWs) will support Air Force Medicine operations by delivering medical services to active-duty military personnel, their dependents, eligible DoD civilian employees, retirees, and other authorized beneficiaries designated by the Government.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform a full range of automated and non-automated laboratory procedures in the areas of chemistry, urinalysis, hematology, serology, bacteriology, and immunohematology according to established protocols.
• Determine the suitability of specimens for analysis. Prepare specimens for analysis and ensure that the physiologic state of the properties is maintained.
• Prepare reagents and primary reference materials as necessary. Calibrate, standardize, adjust, and maintain instruments. Verify correct instrument operation using established procedures and quality control checks. Identify the cause of common problems and make simple repairs.
• Recognize and react to indicators of malfunction. Locate and implement corrections. Obtain analytical data, convert to a prescribed unit of reporting, as necessary, and correlate data to verify results.
• Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents and products
Education & Experience Requirements
• Degree: Bachelor's degree.
• Education: Graduate from a medical technology program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or educational program acceptable to the American Medical Technologist (AMT).
• Certification: Current certification/registration as determined by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or AMT.
• Experience: One year of experience within the last two years as a medical laboratory technologist.
Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands
• Services Shall be provided Monday through Friday between the hours of 0600 and 1800. The HCW shall be assigned an 8 shift, (to include an uncompensated .5 hour meal break) In no instance will the HCW be required to provide services in excess of 80 hours per 2-week period.
• Work is primarily performed indoors at a Military Treatment Facility; employee shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, have the physical ability to perform assigned tasks, able to lift twenty (20) pounds
• Must be a United States citizen, successfully pass an extensive government background investigation, and receive government client approval.
