The Canada Public Sector (CANPS) Federal Team is looking for an accomplished Principal Sales Executive/Business Development Manager (BDM) to drive growth strategies for Data and AI. In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to help drive the growth and shape the future of this customer segment.
You will work closely with sales leadership and the extended Federal team to build go-to-market strategies focusing on delivering long-term revenue, adoption, and market penetration. You will work with several stakeholder teams supporting Canada Sales, including the partners, solutions, policy, security, compliance, marketing, and professional services to position AWS as the cloud service provider of choice for mission-based workloads, while using internal mechanisms to ensure success.
Key job responsibilities
This position will need to independently develop and execute multi-year strategies across major programs, influence modernization initiatives, and shape the future of Data and AI adoption in Canada. They will also work to create greater brand awareness for AWS through various advocacy efforts. The role will serve as the essential bridge between policy, procurement, sales, and technical teams, influencing cloud requirements during programs' formative stages and driving AWS's long-term success in public sector.
A day in the life
The ideal candidate will possess a business development/sales background with extensive Data, AI/ML knowledge. Key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Engages with the sales team, and multiple stakeholders to define and execute sales plans & strategic programs and initiatives.
• Contributes to the strategic development of work products that maximize revenue.
• Works with business leaders from product teams to explore market data to identify trends/opportunities, utilizes extensive relationships within industry to gather market intelligence, and executes on business development opportunities. Syncs often with business development organizations across Amazon to share information and drive consistency with partners and customers.
• Manages internal communications and overall performance reporting.
• Develops and executes on segment specific sales & marketing efforts with strategic partners (ISV, SI & Defence contractors).
• Travel: up to 25% of the time (approx.)
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of technology-related sales, marketing or business development experience
- Knowledge of data engineering pipelines, cloud solutions, ETL management, databases, visualizations and analytical platforms
- Experience developing and executing on GTM strategies that are large in scope
- Experience engaging and influencing C-level executives, both business and technical
- 10+ years of experience in public sector / government sales (Canadian Federal preferred)
- Canadian security clearance eligibility (Secret or above)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a procurement organization performing vendor management, contract management, negotiating complex purchases, and bidding
- cloud certification like AWS Cloud Practitioner or AWS Solutions Architect - Associate
- Experience with AWS data and AI services (SageMaker, Bedrock, Redshift, Aurora, Glue, Athena, S3) or similar, as well as knowledge of integrated partner solutions
- Bilingual (English/French) preference given the Federal customer base
- Familiarity with Government of Canada security requirements

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), and sales incentives (where applicable). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
