The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Launch Delta 45 at Patrick Space Force Base is searching for a Planning Specialist (NH-0301-03).

Join the Space Launch Delta 45 Plans and Programs Directorate (XP) as a Delta Planning Specialist with potential for various assigned duties supporting the world's largest space launch mission on the stunning Space Coast of Florida! Our office works tasks directly for the Delta Commander in a variety of areas. These may include Spaceport strategic planning, the vetting of new launch customers, staffing approvals for upgraded launch vehicles, Delta external relations with NASA, state agencies and US Congress, international affairs, transient tests/exercises, agreements management and bedding down new base tenants.

To meet these high and dynamic demands, we are seeking individuals who can work independently, are flexible to change and have excellent staffing and oral/written communication skills.

Key Duties: (may be assigned in one or more of these areas)
- Provides guidance and interpretation on basing and beddown-related matters and ensures basing and beddown regulations are enforced for both new and existing tenants.
- Delta interface for transient customers requesting support for an exercise, test or training event on SLD 45 property.
- SLD 45 strategic planning, working issues such as launch complex allocation, future infrastructure upgrades and Unified Spaceport planning with NASA. Crafts responses to related congressional RFIs or HHQ questions.
- Manages SLD 45 mission agreements and Base Plans library.
- Responsible for International Affairs issues pertaining to Eastern Range assets at Ascension Island.
- Assists the Delta Planning Engineer with staffing agreements for new launch providers or national security government payloads.
- Space Launch Delta (SLD) 45 Legislative Liaison duties such as preparing SLD 45 senior leaders for congressional engagement and planning, executing, and overseeing legislative-related visits on behalf of the SLD 45 commander. Engage with SAF/LL, Kennedy Space Center and commercial launch providers such as United Launch Alliance, SpaceX and Blue Origin.
- External Relations Liaison duties such as collaborating on common issues of interest with Kennedy Space Center, Florida State legislators, the Economic Development Commission, state agencies, Canaveral Port Authority, and local community groups.
- Creates and staffs briefings or background papers as tasked by SLD 45 senior leadership.

Initiatives/Mission Overview:
- Foster key relationships with commercial space customers and federal transient customers.
- Serves as a member of the Delta Industry Engagement Team (front door) and works with customers effectively through the onboarding process.
- Engages with key customers, explains policies and procedures, and resolves challenges.
- Plays a role in the Delta's participation in the AF Strategic Basing process.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of SLD 45 mission, strategic objectives, vision and current space and Range policy matters.
- Actively involved in the Delta's long-range planning process for the Spaceport of the Future efforts.
- Participates in Delta-level, NASA-KSC, and State of Florida forums and working groups.

Conditions of employment
  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • PCS / Relocation is not available.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework"
  • Subject to TDY 15 days per year.
  • Incumbent must be able to commute between KSC and SLD 45 facilities and bases.
