Job Description

Duties

As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-10, you will:
  • Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft
  • Perform major adjustments and alignments of aircraft systems or components
  • Remove and replace aircraft components
  • Perform operator maintenance on aircraft installed auxiliary power units
  • Launch and recover assigned and transient aircraft to include those on alert status

Additional Employment Requirements:

-Participation in direct deposit is mandatory

-May be required to successfully complete a probationary period

*Military Unit* -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1)

Qualifications

General Experience:
Must have the following experience(s):
  • Removing and replacing aircraft parts, accessories, and components
  • Making adjustments and settings according to established specifications
  • Using hand tools and test equipment
Specialized Experience:
Must have 18 months of the following experience(s):
  • Installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting
  • Functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification
  • Coordinating the work of other mechanics
  • Scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow
  • Instructing lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines
Education
