We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Test & Evaluation Specialist 2 to support cybersecurity testing, vulnerability assessments, and security compliance activities within a secure government environment. Specialist, Test & Evaluation II
Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Test & Evaluation Specialist 2 to support cybersecurity testing, vulnerability assessments, and security compliance activities within a secure government environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience conducting cybersecurity test and evaluation activities, performing STIG assessments, developing test plans, and utilizing vulnerability and penetration testing tools to support mission-critical systems.
This role requires strong technical expertise, analytical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Cybersecurity Test & Evaluation (T&E) activities for systems, applications, and network environments.
- Conduct Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) assessments utilizing SCAP benchmarks and related compliance tools.
- Perform vulnerability assessments using the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) tool.
- Develop and maintain cybersecurity test plans, procedures, and supporting documentation.
- Utilize packet analysis tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump to identify, analyze, and troubleshoot network and security issues.
- Support penetration testing activities utilizing approved penetration testing tools and methodologies.
- Analyze assessment results and provide recommendations for remediation and risk mitigation.
- Assist with validating security controls and ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements and standards.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, engineering, and operations teams to support secure system implementation and testing efforts.
- Document findings, vulnerabilities, and corrective actions in accordance with government requirements.
Required Qualifications
Certifications & Clearance
- Minimum certification as DoDD 8140.01 Workforce Framework 541 (or equivalent as required by the Technical Instruction) at the Basic proficiency level, or successor guidance.
- Must possess and maintain a final adjudicated Tier 5 security investigation with an IT Level I designation in JPAS and/or DISS.
- Active U.S. Government security clearance preferred or ability to obtain and maintain required clearance.
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Cybersecurity Test and Evaluation.
- Demonstrated experience performing STIG assessments, including use of SCAP benchmarks.
- Demonstrated experience conducting vulnerability assessments using ACAS.
- Demonstrated experience developing cybersecurity test plans.
- Experience utilizing packet analyzer tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump.
- Experience utilizing penetration testing tools and techniques.
Desired Skills
- Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes and cybersecurity best practices.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in DoD or federal government environments preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
