This position supports the Army Prepositioned Stocks - 4 (APS-4) Program located at Camp Carroll, Korea. The Sr. Gunsmith will comply with all applicable safety and environmental regulations, local safety policies, and KBR's Zero Harm program.
Job Summary
The Sr. Gunsmith serves as Armament Repair Section Lead for the APS-4 Program at Camp Carroll, Korea. This position is responsible for inspecting, repairing, rebuilding, overhauling, and performing allied trades functions on pistols, rifles, automatic weapons, and other arms, as well as other types of weapon systems and equipment maintained on the APS-4 program. The Sr. Gunsmith has a thorough understanding of machine tools and equipment and ensures all work meets established quality, compliance, and documentation standards.
The position consults with government officials in all facets concerning the Armament Repair Section, including weapons, mounts, suppressors, optic systems including Night Vision Devices (NVDs), prototype development, and reverse engineering projects. The Sr. Gunsmith ensures required plans, procedures, work instructions, and quality records are developed, maintained, and followed by operational personnel, and that all corrective actions are brought to a satisfactory conclusion. The Sr. Gunsmith also applies the global KBR job description requirements for this role, to include repairing and altering firearms to blueprint standards and client specifications using hand tools, grinders, planers, millers, and similar equipment; installing, repairing, or replacing parts such as gun sights, pistol grips, recoil pads, and decorative pieces; reboring barrels as needed; fabricating and/or refinishing wooden stocks to client specifications; testing and recalibrating firearms as necessary; and may lead less experienced gunsmiths.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Serve as Armament Repair Section Lead; inspect, repair, rebuild, overhaul, and perform allied trades functions on pistols, rifles, automatic weapons, and other arms and weapon systems maintained on the APS-4 program.
- Inspect for accuracy in workmanship including diagnosing the source of trouble, determining the extent of repairs required, proper performance of PMCS and corrective maintenance, serviceability of parts, and the action of weapons during cycling.
- Repair and alter firearms to blueprint standards and client specifications using hand tools, grinders, planers, millers, and similar equipment.
- Install, repair, or replace parts such as gun sights, pistol grips, recoil pads, and decorative pieces using screws and hand tools.
- Rebore barrels as needed; fabricate and/or refinish wooden stocks to client specifications.
- Test and recalibrate firearms as necessary.
- Consult with government officials on all matters concerning the Armament Repair Section, including weapons, mounts, suppressors, optic systems including NVDs, prototype development, and reverse engineering projects.
- Inspect quality in the conduct of work associated with Engineering Changes, MWOs, MAMs, and SOUMs.
- Ensure proper use of automated maintenance systems and accurate completion of all maintenance documentation.
- Ensure required plans, procedures, work instructions, and quality records are developed, maintained, and followed by operational personnel.
- Maintain knowledgeable oversight of the Corrective Action System and ensure all corrective actions are brought to a satisfactory conclusion.
- Maintain a basic knowledge of the Army Weapons Readiness Dashboard (AWRD).
- Lead and provide guidance to less experienced gunsmiths.
- Comply with all applicable safety and environmental regulations, local safety policies, and KBR's Zero Harm program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with a valid U.S. Passport.
- Security clearance required (position-specific clearance level applies; Secret clearance is mandatory).
- Possess a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License.
- Ability to provide documentation to qualify as US EXPAT Invited Contractor Status and SOFA Visa IAW USFK 700-19 Regulation.
- Favorable adjudication of an NACI background check.
- Must be able to pass a DA Form 7708 background check
- High School diploma or GED plus seven years of directly related work experience in the maintenance and repair of U.S. Army small arms inventories.
- Completion of the advanced and/or small arms repair course, or equivalent.
- In lieu of formal coursework, a combination of college credits, on-the-job training, other formalized training, or experience may be considered.
- 5 or more years of experience assembling, repairing, and recalibrating firearms.
- Ability to work from technical manuals, work instructions, and work orders.
- Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
- Must be able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment, including heat and humidity.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds to waist level and 35 pounds to shoulder height.
- Required to pass initial and periodic medical screening.
Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- Certificate from a vocational school or other recognized source such as a military school with a major study in Small Arms/Ordnance repair is preferred.
- Prior experience supporting APS, PREPO, or other War Reserve materiel armament programs is preferred.
