Job Title: Structural Dynamics Analyst
Location: King of Prussia, PA
Type of Role: Direct Hire (Full‑Time, Onsite)
Shift: 9x80 Schedule (Every other Friday off)
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking an experienced Structural Dynamics Analyst to support advanced space and reentry vehicle programs within a highly demanding aerospace and defense environment. This role focuses on performing nonlinear structural stress and dynamics analyses for reentry vehicles, developing and maintaining finite element models, and supporting design trades and verification activities for systems subjected to hostile encounter events, penetration mechanics, and impact physics. The ideal candidate will bring strong finite element analysis experience, familiarity with implicit and explicit solvers, and the ability to work on multi‑disciplinary teams to support both conceptual and detailed design phases while ensuring program cost and schedule objectives are met.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Perform nonlinear structural analyses (stress and dynamics) for reentry vehicles and associated hardware
- Produce and maintain structural dynamics models using in‑house and commercial codes that simulate hostile encounters, penetration mechanics, and impact physics
- Prepare test plans, support test execution, post‑process structural dynamics test data, and compile clear and concise test reports
- Participate in structural design trades; support conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design and analysis activities
- Conduct performance and maintenance assessments of operational systems from a structural dynamics perspective
- Develop user documentation and recommendations for data packages supporting peer reviews and customer reviews
- Present analysis results and technical findings to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and program office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design reviews
- Review, interpret, and flow down program requirements into structural analysis tasks and modeling assumptions
- Plan tasks and support review of budgets and schedules to help reduce cost and cycle time while maintaining technical integrity
- Collaborate within a multi‑disciplined, highly integrated team environment and support continuous improvement of structural dynamics analysis processes
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Basic Qualifications
- Experience with structural finite element modeling and analysis (FEM/FEA)
- Experience with implicit and/or explicit finite element modeling tools such as Abaqus, LS‑DYNA, NASTRAN 601/701, or equivalent
- Experience performing analysis in support of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design activities
- Understanding of structural analysis principles through education or equivalent practical experience
- Ability to apply new and advanced analytical techniques as needed to solve complex structural dynamics problems
- Active Secret security clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required for security clearance eligibility
Additional Qualifications
- A related master’s degree in engineering or a closely related discipline strongly preferred
- Experience with multi‑physics or shock dynamics modeling using tools such as Abaqus Explicit, LS‑DYNA, CTH, or equivalent
- Experience designing verification and validation tests and correlating models to post‑test data
- Experience with x‑ray deposition, material vulnerability, and other hostile encounter environments
- Experience working to formal requirements, interfacing with customers, and presenting structural analysis results
- Experience performing structural analysis specifically for reentry vehicles or similar high‑energy flight systems
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and highly integrated team environment
- Demonstrated ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and drive them to closure quickly and efficiently
- Active Top Secret clearance preferred
Security Clearance Requirement
- Active Secret clearance required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required for consideration
