Description:The Capture Excellence team sits within Lockheed Martin Space's Strategy & Business Development (S&BD) organization. Our mission is to equip Space BD with the processes, tools, talent, and insights needed to compete and win in an increasingly complex market. The Business Development Insights Lead is a critical addition to this team - a role for someone who brings intellectual rigor, relationship acumen, and a bias for translating data into decisions that matter.
In this high-visibility, high-autonomy role, the Business Development Insights Lead operates under minimal direction to gather, validate, and analyze data across MSACs, Lines of Business, and functional areas, translating complex operational and pipeline information into executive-ready insights and recommendations.
This role requires an individual who is equally comfortable building trusted relationships across the organization to access and validate data as they are building polished, executive-facing deliverables. The Business Development Insights Lead will support data integrity within systems such as Opportunity Hub and Customer Hub, provide internal management consultation on strategic and operational business development matters, and lead or contribute to transformative initiatives within the Capture Excellence team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct deep-dive analysis on Space's business development pipeline, synthesizing data across MSACs, LOBs, and functional areas to surface executive-relevant insights on capture trends, health, and performance.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships across organizational boundaries to facilitate data gathering, validate findings, and align stakeholders on conclusions.
• Support data integrity within BD systems of record (e.g., Opportunity Hub, Customer Hub), proactively identifying and resolving data quality issues in coordination with system administrators and opportunity owners.
• Develop and deliver high-quality, executive-ready presentations summarizing analytical findings, strategic recommendations, and operational themes for senior leadership audiences.
• Provide internal management consultation on a range of strategic and operational matters requiring rigorous data analysis and structured problem-solving.
• Manage multiple concurrent workstreams, progressing tasks and longer-term projects from initial concept through complete deliverable with strong prioritization and judgment.
• Support general project management activities for operational and transformative initiatives across Capture Excellence and Business Development.
• Provide clear, structured reporting and coordination within the team and with cross-functional partners to ensure collaborative success on shared initiatives.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related analytical field.
• Demonstrated experience independently gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing complex data sets to develop actionable insights and recommendations with minimal supervision.
• Proven ability to build trusted, productive relationships across a matrixed organization to facilitate information sharing, data validation, and stakeholder alignment.
• Exceptional communication and executive presence skills, including the ability to develop polished, high-impact presentations for senior leadership audiences.
• Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities, self-direct, and deliver complete work products from concept to execution.
Desired Skills:
• Management consulting experience (top-tier consulting firm or internal strategy/consulting function preferred); demonstrated ability to apply structured analytical frameworks to ambiguous business problems.
• Experience working within a defense, aerospace, or government contracting environment, with familiarity with business development processes, capture lifecycle, or pipeline management.
• Prior exposure to BD or CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Opportunity Hub, or equivalent pipeline management platforms) with an understanding of data integrity principles.
• Experience supporting or operating within a Capture Excellence, BD Operations, or Strategy & Business Development function.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel; experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) a plus.
• Strong comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with shifting priorities and competing demands.
• Active TS/SCI clearance or demonstrated history of successfully obtaining and maintaining clearances at this level.
