What you will do:
- Validate 508 compliance against government accessibility standards.
- Plan, prepare, and execute tests to verify NCIC System 508 compliance and documenting and report of the test results using approved forms and templates.
- Work shall be planned, monitored, executed, and documented according to the agile standard operating procedures of the NCIC Agile Release Train including maintenance of a backlog and observance of program iteration and sprint timeframes.
- Participate in test planning meetings and test readiness reviews providing technical input.
- Develop and execute Section 508 compliance test scripts, test cases, and test scenarios based upon Section 508 standards and system requirement definitions.
- Conduct detailed analysis of Section 508 test results.
- Work with the Manager to develop test plans, test schedules, and present time estimation for testing activities to be performed.
- Provide technical assistance and limited remediation where requested by the government.
- Attend NCIC agile development activities, such as PI Planning and iteration reviews.
- Maintain and report agile metrics and standards such as capacity, load, and burndown using the approved NCIC Agile Release Train tools.
How success is measured:
- Timely and accurate completion of Section 508 accessibility testing activities and compliance deliverables.
- Identification, documentation, and communication of accessibility risks, defects, and remediation recommendations.
- Successful collaboration with Agile teams, developers, and stakeholders to support accessibility compliance efforts.
- Maintenance of accurate testing documentation, Agile metrics, and sprint deliverables.
- Consistent adherence to federal accessibility standards, Agile procedures, and testing best practices.
What you bring
We require:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Public Policy, Computer Science, Information Science, or a degree demonstrated to be directly related to the administration and management of Section 508 requirements. Certification(s) in related areas of study may be considered for substitution for the degree requirement.
- 5 to 8 years of experience performing accessibility testing, compliance activities, or related IT quality assurance functions.
- 3 years of experience performing Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 accessibility testing for electronic documents and web-based applications, including use of formal testing templates and documentation standards.
- 1 year of experience working within Agile development environments and participating in Agile ceremonies and workflows. Certification(s) in agile methodology practices from an accredited institution may be substituted for the experience requirement.
- Strong understanding of Section 508 requirements and best practices, as well as experience in web design, web development, and accessibility.
- Experience using assistive technologies and accessibility testing tools such as JAWS, JAWSInspect, screen readers, and keyboard navigation techniques to evaluate Section 508 compliance and user accessibility needs.
- Experience working with and managing accessibility testing, audits, and remediation.
- Ability to articulate test results, user impacts and remediation options and provide a defensible rationale for accessibility compliance.
- Experience with Atlassian software tools such as JIRA and Confluence, or related products designed for cross-team management of testing activities.
- Professional experience collaborating with technical and non-technical personnel.
- Proficient in using routine computer applications, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Internet Explorer), Adobe Acrobat, JAWS, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and services that operate using these applications.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a federal suitability determination/public trust clearance.
- Accessibility certifications such as Trusted Tester or CPACC.
- Experience supporting federal accessibility compliance initiatives.
- Experience performing accessibility remediation activities.
- Familiarity with assistive technology testing for complex enterprise applications.
- Prior experience supporting Agile Release Trains (ARTs) or SAFe Agile environments.
