What you'll do:

The Program Manufacturing Planner will, on a day to day basis, work to plan, deconflict, and evaluate progress on shop floor manufacturing activity while also maintaining a focus on what is needed to meet big-picture overall program objectives. They will be interacting daily with Shop and Test Leads, Fabricators and Technicians, Program Business Managers, Procurement, Engineering, and the Program Manager to determine and provide status updates, be on the lookout for upcoming problem areas, and develop plans to efficiently utilize program resources in building the airplane. They will be responsible to ensure the shop has sufficient definition from engineering to maintain consistent progress according to plan.

As a key member of program leadership, the Manufacturing Planner will need to develop close and productive working relationships with a wide variety of people across the program and the company. Acting as a bridge between multiple stakeholders within the program organization, the Planner will need to understand the roles, motivations, and perspectives of teams and individuals to appropriately prioritize and plan for effective program execution. Practical knowledge and competency with aircraft fabrication, assembly, manufacturing sequencing, planning tools, workflow optimization, and conveying plan information through visual means (Gantt charts, flow diagrams, flipbooks, etc.) is critical.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive assembly plans
  • Creating documents, visuals, and other artifacts to communicate plans to the greater program team
  • Developing and maintaining assembly schedules in concert with Program Business Managers
  • Establishing schedules for tooling, part, and assembly needs that meet overall program timelines
  • Coordination and deconfliction between major structural and system interfaces, subassemblies, and communication of priorities to Shop Supervisor
  • Forward-looking action to identify and resolve bottlenecks to milestone completion
  • Coordination of assembly and test activities in conjunction with the Test and Shop Leads
  • Review and improvement of manufacturing processes
  • Identifying and procuring equipment and tools as needed to prevent manufacturing delays


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years direct experience in aerospace manufacturing
  • Fluency with program planning tools (MS Project, Visio, etc.)
  • Experience as shop and/or program management, inclusive of having direct reports
  • Large-scale assembly planning experience
  • Prior work in a fast-paced prototyping environment
  • Experience in 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) secret clearance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on design and build experience
  • Experience in NX, Catia V5, or Solidworks
  • Ancillary aerospace experience (work history, pilot's license, experimental aircraft building, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical or business-related field


Essential Job Functions:

  • Requires mobility and the ability to bend and reach
  • May require lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling materials (rolls of material, parts, assemblies, shop equipment, tools) with a force up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity and coordination are required; repetitive hand motion (e.g., to operate computer keyboard, shop equipment)
  • Vision at close distances and the ability to adjust focus for prolonged periods (i.e., computer screen)
  • Ability to remain sedentary or stationary for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to write for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in an office setting for prolonged periods of time
  • May be asked to carry up to 20 lbs. up and down a flight of stairs on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, test hardware, etc.
  • Occasional reaching overhead and lifting up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to converse and communicate information with others
  • Occasional exposure to chemical vapors and/or fumes in low non-hazardous concentration
  • Potential to climb up and down steps on a daily basis
  • Must be able to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
