Position: Advisory Consultant, Business Operations
Location: Alexandria, VA (hybrid: 2-5 days/week on-site)
Clearance: Active Secret Clearance required
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required (MS preferred)

Overview:
The Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment (ASD(S)) is the senior logistics official and principal advisor to the USD(A&S), DEPSECDEF, and SECDEF on logistics and materiel readiness across the Department of Defense. The ASD(S) prescribes policies for logistics, maintenance, materiel readiness, strategic mobility, product support, and sustainment; advises senior leaders and military departments; monitors and reviews relevant programs; and participates in the DoD Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution process within their areas of responsibility. We are seeking candidates with the following skills and qualities:
Close attention to detail and organizational skills.
Experience managing office operations and administrative tasks.
Ability to coordinate meetings, engagements, and logistics support.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with DoD correspondence and task management systems (e.g., CATMS).
Knowledge of federal records management and FOIA processes.
Proficiency in updating web content and managing standard operating procedures.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with senior leadership.
Responsibilities:
Administrative and Office Management: Provide general administrative support and manage office operations, supplies, equipment, and visitor access.
Meeting and Engagement Support: Coordinate logistics for meetings and engagements, including setup, documentation, and follow-up on action items.
FOIA and Information Management: Process and track Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and maintain accurate records.
Personnel Support: Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes for staff.
Drafting and Research: Prepare draft correspondence, briefings, and supporting materials through research and coordination.
Daily Executive Support: Prepare and manage daily read-ahead materials for principals, including assembly, disassembly, and records management.
Audit and Compliance Tracking: Receive, track, and manage audit requests and reports, maintain master tracking lists for open recommendations, and ensure follow-up.
Office Administration and Information Management: Maintain and update personnel contact lists, email distribution lists, and manage website/social media content.
Travel and Policy Guidance: Respond to questions regarding travel regulations and review policy documents for accuracy and completeness.
Required Qualifications:
Must be willing to go on-site in Alexandria up to 5 days a week.
2+ years’ experience in administrative support and office management.
2+ years’ experience preparing briefing materials, talking points, and strategic communications content.
2+ years’ experience compiling reports, managing legislative or compliance-related documentation, tracking audit requests, compliance issues, and maintaining records.
