Duties
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of HQ USAFA/RRA, ensuring that the Region of the Liaison and Outreach Division complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organization and Liaison and Outreach objectives.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
Represents USAFA Admissions, Liaison and Outreach Division with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with USAFA Mission Elements, 10 ABW organizations, AFROTC, AFRS, Community Based Organizations, high school administrators, and congressional staffers.
Trains personnel on the ALO program. Develops new approaches and concepts in planning, evaluating and providing leadership to major long-range programs designed to spur significant advances in the AF Admissions Liaison program and have a major impact on agency programs and future nationwide activities.
Acts as Deputy Chief, Liaison and Outreach Division when required. Supports the Chief, Liaison and Outreach Division in all division activities.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, for GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade, GS-11 level (or equivalent grade level, pay schedule, pay band, etc.) which includes in-depth knowledge of university admission practices and national recruitment techniques for high school and college students; and skills in collecting, evaluating, and interpreting admission data to establish goals and meet admission targets; organizing and coordinating events with organizations outside of admissions; and ability to analyze work methods and procedures, develop improvement measures, and implement policies and procedures.
EDUCATION: I have successfully completed graduate level education in a field directly related to this position which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in- grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of university admission practices and national recruitment techniques for high school and college students; and skills in collecting, evaluating, and interpreting admission data to establish goals and meet admission targets; organizing and coordinating events with organizations outside of admissions; and ability to analyze work methods and procedures, develop improvement measures, and implement policies and procedures. 2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
5. Skill in using a wide range of computer software applications such as word processing, database, and spreadsheets related to duties of the position.
6. Skills to supervise and document Active Duty and Reserve officers through officer performance reports and appropriate level decorations.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
