Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Engineer Aeronautical - Computational Fluid Dynamics Analyst Lead (Level 5) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This role can be located in Melbourne, FL; El Segundo, CA; or San Diego, CA.
In this role you will serve as the primary technical point of contact for all program activities related to Aerodynamic Design & Analysis, Air Vehicle Computational Fluid Dynamics, and Air Vehicle Performance. You will also oversee the Aerodynamics team's wind tunnel test campaign, including determination of requirements, fabrication plans, facility coordination, and deconfliction with test plans from Propulsion and Weapons Integration.

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $265,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Ownership and configuration control of aerodynamic database accounting, implementation, and verification & validation
- Prioritize tasking for the above technical disciplines, coordinating with external stakeholders to ensure all requirements are met within the needed timeline.
- Maintain regular customer interaction with POCs from Vehicle Performance and Stability and Control
- Coordinate with program security to ensure all requirements are continually met for fabrication and facility infrastructure
- Identify and plan for required HPC (High Performance Computing) resources for CFD analysis
- Coordinate with other disciplines (e.g. GNC, Mass Properties, Airframe) on trade studies to balance Vehicle Performance requirements with those disciplines.
- Review and ensure quality for aerodynamic model releases, CFD analyses, and Vehicle Performance results as well as customer deliverables
- Act as the CAM (Cost Account Manager) for program Flight Sciences activities, including resource planning, EVMS, variance reporting
- Run 6DOF trajectory analysis
- Analyze acoustic data for open cavities from wind tunnel or CFD measurements
- Lead the Configuration Design & Integration (CDI) Team
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 12 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience.
- Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance (must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.
- Professional experience with creation, running, and/or analyzing multibody model CFD simulations.
- Demonstrated experience with aerodynamic fundamentals and CFD techniques.
- Onsite experience with wind tunnel testing and data acquisition systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with two body separation tests
- Experience post-processing CFD solutions for downstream analysis, including integrated forces/moments, flow visualization, and inlet distortion/recovery.
- Familiarity with one or more of the following CFD solvers: GCNS, OVERFLOW, FUN3D
- Experience with Pointwise and Tecplot software.
- Experience with adjoint methods for design optimization.
- Experience in performing CFD analysis on aircraft in subsonic, transonic, and supersonic flight conditions.
- Experience with MIL-STD-3013B
- Experience with Matlab for data analysis and data reduction
- Experience with aerodynamics tools and techniques
- Familiarity with translating aerodynamics analyses into workable design solutions for flight vehicles
- Familiarity with configuration aerodynamics tools
- Experience with DOD safety board process for store separation
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as NX and CPLM
- Strong communication and leadership skills accountable
- Earned Value Management / Cost Account Manager experience or qualification
