Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems is looking for a Director Mission Assurance 1 to lead the Quality and Mission Assurance organization for the Strategic Deterrent Systems Division. This leadership role is located in Roy, Utah. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to lead in a dynamic engineering and production environment. There is significant responsibility and visibility with executive leadership and the broad customer organization.

What You'll Get To Do:
  • Defines and monitors mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of programs.
  • Performs or assures quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Assesses program performance and risks and determines resources to ensure mission assurance.
  • Ensures the on-time delivery of high-quality products and services that meet all contractual requirements and business objectives.


  • Drives the continuous improvement of people (to include training & development), products, processes, systems and services through the application of world class manufacturing to include innovative technologies, lean principles, six-sigma projects, and common best practices.
  • Develops, maintains, and ensures compliance with mission assurance programs, policies, processes, procedures and that the performance and quality of products/processes conform to established standards, specifications and agency guidelines.
  • Provides expertise and guidance in interpreting policies, regulatory and/or governmental regulations, and agency guidelines to assure compliance.
  • Provides leadership that fosters an inclusive, motivated and engaged work culture.
  • Supports the development phase of programs by assuring engineering products and processes conform to internal and customer requirements.
  • Works directly with operating entities such as engineering and manufacturing to ensure that inspections, process control analyses and audits are conducted on a continuing basis to enforce requirements and compliance.
  • Ensures the Quality/Mission Assurance, Manufacturing, and Engineering processes are consistent with industry capability maturity models and QMS standards (AS9100).
  • Provides direct oversight in all efforts related to factory accountability and foreign object elimination practices.
  • Reviews trend metrics and analyze misses in order to implement the appropriate improvements to improve performance.
  • Standardizes and facilitate root cause / corrective action efforts to resolve quality issues.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of related technical experience or a Masters with 8 years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing, communicating and instituting new processes for an organization
  • Experience managing people
  • 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Mission Assurance specific roles
  • 5 years of experience in metric development for process health and performance monitoring large programs/projects
  • Leadership experience in both EMD and Production programs
  • Active US Government Secret Clearance adjudicated in the last 6 years with ability to obtain SAP and Top-Secret Clearance


These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • 10 years Executive Leadership experience, preferably within the Aerospace and Defense industry
  • NG QMS familiarity
  • ISO 9001 and AS9100 familiarity
  • MS or MBA degree highly preferred
  • Active Top Secret Clearance


Primary Level Salary Range: $176,100.00 - $264,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
