Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking an Emergency Response Engineer to join our Environmental, Health, Safety, and Fire Protection team at the Advanced Technology Laboratories (ATL) site in Linthicum, Maryland. The selected applicant will be responsible for supporting the site's emergency response team and fire protection & life safety programs.
ATL designs, manufactures, and tests semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs. Northrop Grumman's ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, and Silicon Carbide) and providing leading-edge technology development in Superconducting Electronics and SLCFET. Our devices enable many of Northrop Grumman's ground-based radars, avionic radars, and space systems.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $123,400.00 - $185,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

What You'll Get To Do:
- Supporting and responding to hazardous materials releases and fires to mitigate incidents quickly and efficiently to minimize production down-time as well as assisting in recovery efforts
- Maintaining emergency response equipment and keeping consumable inventory response ready
- Developing and implementing training for the emergency response team (including CPR/AED First Aid, HAZWOPER, etc)
- Developing site-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Pre-Plans for both specific materials and locations, to ensure emergency preparedness
- Coordinating with outside emergency response teams and agencies
- Leading the building evacuation team, including recruiting and training team members, maintaining the Occupant Emergency Plan (OEP), and keeping assembly point supplies stocked
- Reviewing and approving hot work permits
- Overseeing CO2 fire suppression system maintenance
- Participating in design reviews for equipment and facility alterations to identify fire protection and life safety risks
- Collecting, maintaining, and presenting Emergency Response Team (ERT) statistics to team and foundry leadership
- Generating, proposing, and maintaining an annual ERT budget
- Conducting periodic building fire safety inspections and supporting Health and Safety compliance inspections
- Coordinating employee engagement activities, such as fire prevention week
Additional roles and responsibilities may include:
- Inspection, testing and maintenance of fire alarm systems
- Inspection, testing and maintenance of water-based fire suppression systems
The position can be filled at a Level 3 or 4.
Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS, emergency response, fire service, or related experience; or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience in EHS, emergency response, fire service, or related experience
- Ability to undergo annual medical surveillance and acquire medical certification for the use of a self-contained breathing apparatus
- Ability to respond to fire and hazardous materials incidents in a timely manner inclusive of non-working hours
- Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required
Basic Qualifications for Level 4:
- Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 8 years of experience in EHS, emergency response, fire service, or related experience; or a Master's Degree with 6 years of experience in EHS, emergency response, fire service, or related experience
- Ability to undergo annual medical surveillance and acquire medical certification for the use of a self-contained breathing apparatus
- Ability to respond to fire and hazardous materials incidents in a timely manner inclusive of non-working hours
- Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, or related field
- Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Technician Certification , Hazardous Materials Incident Commander and/or Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) Specialist Certifications
- Firefighter I, Fire Inspector I, and Fire Service Instructor I
- Fire Officer II
- A good working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local codes
- A comprehensive understanding of chemical substances, acids, toxic materials , liquids, gases and solids including their potential hazards
- Experience in conducting in-person training
- First Aid/CPR Instructor
- HAZWOPER Instructor
- Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
