The Space Business Area within the Leidos Defense Sector has a new opportunity for a Director of Business Development to lead growth activities for the Proliferated Space Systems Division. This is an outstanding opportunity to shape and execute Leidos' strategy in one of the most dynamic and strategically important mission areas in the defense industry. The Proliferated Space Systems Division focuses on resilient, low-Earth orbit constellations and in particular EO/IR payloads and on orbit mission processing capabilities for those constellations as well as and related ground segment capabilities serving DoD and national security customers including the Space Development Agency (SDA), U.S. Space Force, NRO, and related mission partners.
The Director of Business Development will serve as the growth engine for the Proliferated Space Systems Division, actively managing the full BD lifecycle from opportunity identification through award. This individual will work closely with the Space BA Growth Lead, division operations leadership, and senior Leidos staff to execute growth strategies, build enduring customer relationships, and drive a healthy qualified pipeline aligned to both near- and long-term revenue objectives.

THE CHALLENGE:
- Own and grow a robust, qualified pipeline of business opportunities for the Proliferated Space Systems Division, linked to near- and long-term business strategies and revenue objectives
- Serve as the primary BD interface between the Division and key customers including the Space Development Agency (SDA), U.S. Space Force, NRO, and related agencies
- Lead and execute the full BD lifecycle for division opportunities: identification, qualification, shaping, capture strategy development, proposal support, and award
- Identify, develop, and implement near- and long-term business strategies that position the division for sustainable revenue growth in proliferated space architectures
- Partner with the Space BA Growth Lead and Division leadership to support strategic planning, pipeline reviews, bid agenda development, and gate reviews
- Conduct customer visits and deep research to understand current and emerging customer requirements, acquisition timelines, and gaps in proliferated space capabilities
- Establish, build, and maintain executive-level customer relationships with SDA, USSF, OSD, and industry partners
- Build and lead industry teams; identify and qualify strategic teaming partners and suppliers critical to win strategies
- Conduct competitive analysis and gather market intelligence to inform pursuit decisions and differentiate Leidos offerings
- Lead and participate in black hat sessions, win theme workshops, and proposal reviews to maximize Pwin on division priorities
- Manage division new business funds and BD investment resources effectively and in alignment with growth priorities
- Support collaboration with other Leidos Space BA divisions, the Dynetics Group, and corporate functions to bring the full breadth of Leidos' space capabilities to bear on major captures
- Represent Leidos at industry conferences, trade shows, and government symposia relevant to the proliferated space mission area
WHAT SETS YOU APART:
- Bachelor's degree and at least 15+ years of related experience; Master's degree with 12+ years of experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience in business development or capture management within the national security space market, with specific emphasis on proliferated LEO architectures, space vehicles, payloads, or ground segment programs
- Extensive working knowledge of the Space Development Agency (SDA), U.S. Space Force (USSF), and NRO mission areas, acquisition processes, and program offices
- Experience identifying and qualifying large business development programs (>$150M Total Contract Value) with emphasis on opportunity qualification, shaping, and capture
- Demonstrated skills in all areas of BD including opportunity qualification, capture strategy, customer visit execution, customer relationship development, team leadership, and proposal oversight
- Proven track record of winning defense space programs of record through full capture life cycle management
- Working knowledge of the DoD space budget, FYDP, investments, and acquisition processes
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and DoD acquisition policy
- Excellent communications skills demonstrated through written and oral presentations, development of technical papers, and executive-level briefings
- Ability to think and execute both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Programs of Record in USSF or SDA proliferated constellations (e.g., Tranche programs, PWSA)
- Experience maturing and transitioning prototype or OTA-funded programs into Programs of Record
- Established network within SDA, SMC/SSC, and Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO)
- Ability to gain internal support, operate independently with limited supervision, and establish solid working relationships with technical staff, division managers, and peers across Leidos
- Experience developing and managing marketing and B&P budgets
- Active TS/SCI clearance
CLEARANCE REQUIRED:
- TS/SCI strongly desired. Must hold at minimum an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
