Job Description
SMX is seeking creative problem solvers who can design and develop solutions with our clients. We are technology agnostic, in a sense, and are interested in people who come from different environments and backgrounds than perhaps what we have seen. Understanding and having an interest in working in an analytics environment is a great skill to have as well. You can be a self-proclaimed full-stack web application guru, advancing in your engineering or analytics career, or a data developer who has a strong interest in software engineering. You will be part of one of our fastest-growing, heavily impactful teams, and working with a great client who loves data as much as we do.
This is a full-time position requiring on-site work four days a week at a client's office in Washington, D.C. An active Top-Secret clearance is mandatory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design overall architecture of the web application
- Design, develop, and implement Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) solutions from various data sources into desired systems
- Maintain and supervise operation of existing ETL packages
- Troubleshoot and debug front- and back-end processes
- Utilize Power BI, data analysis, data query, data aggregation, and big data technology to analyze and display results from several internal and external systems
- Maintain quality and ensure responsiveness of applications
- Collaborate with the rest of the engineering team to design and launch new designs and features
- Maintain code integrity and organization, optimization and performance
- Document requirement specifications and any related designs
- Execute project assignments to support the overall objectives of the project plan; analyze and resolve technical problems
Required Skills:
- Highly experienced with HTML5, CSS3, Java/J2EE, JavaScript, TypeScript, NodeJS/Deno, REACT and/or Python
- Strong proficiency in ETL development, data transformation, and data management
- Experience with Power BI for data visualization and analysis
- Knowledge of data query, data aggregation, and system architecture
- Experience with big data technologies
- Ability to design and write test case scripts
- Ability to work effectively in both a team and independently within a fast-paced environment
- Database knowledge (required for ETL functions)
- Able to deal with a diverse set of stakeholders and facilitate workshops
- Proficient in articulation, communication, presentation, and hold high integrity
- Possess strong problem-solving skills & a learning attitude
- Needs to be a team player, can also work remotely and independently
- 5+ years of related experience, including 5+ years designing, developing, and implementing ETL solutions from various data sources
- Must hold active Top-Secret clearance
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Preferred bachelor's degree in engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Design, Economics or Business, or equivalent
