Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, enhancement, and deployment of Appian-based enterprise workflow applications supporting DOL FLAG and PERM programs.
  • Design scalable and maintainable Appian solutions using Appian BPM, SAIL interfaces, process models, records, reports, and integrations.
  • Support platform roadmap execution and contribute to technical architecture decisions and modernization strategies.
  • Develop and maintain REST API integrations between Appian and external/internal systems.
  • Create and optimize Appian process workflows, business rules, forms, and interfaces to improve automation and user experience.
  • Collaborate with database teams to support Oracle database interactions, including:
    • Creating and updating tables
    • Executing insert/update scripts
    • Supporting stored procedures and data validation logic
  • Support CI/CD deployment activities and production-ready implementations across development, test, and production environments.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, optimize system performance, and implement enhancements as needed.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Work closely with federal stakeholders, program managers, QA teams, and business analysts to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
  • Ensure solutions comply with federal security, accessibility, and performance standards.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior developers and development teams.
  • Support system documentation, technical specifications, SOPs, and operational handoff activities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in Appian application development.
  • Experience supporting federal government clients and enterprise workflow modernization initiatives.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Appian BPM
    • Appian SAIL
    • Process Models
    • Records
    • Reports
    • Integration Objects
    • Appian Deployment Manager
  • Hands-on experience with REST API integrations and web services.
  • Experience with Oracle databases, including:
    • SQL scripting
    • Table creation/modification
    • Insert/update operations
    • Familiarity with stored procedures
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud environments and cloud-hosted application architectures.
  • Experience developing and deploying production-ready enterprise applications.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Appian Certified Senior Developer or Appian Lead Developer certification.
  • Experience supporting DOL, OFLC, FLAG, PERM, or other federal case management/workflow systems.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment strategies.
  • Experience with Java, JavaScript, JSON, XML, or related technologies.
  • Experience with accessibility standards (Section 508 compliance).
  • Knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience working in high-availability production support environments.
