Job Description

The Building People, LLC is seeking a full-time Facilities Support Recycling Laborer. In this role, you will be responsible for gathering all types of material that will be recycled including but not limited to cardboard, plastic, paper, and aluminum cans. The Recycling Laborer will sort, process, and transport recyclable materials. The candidate will work in a government facilities and will collect recyclables from multiple buildings.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with customers and other workers.
  • Directs drivers and/or customers to loading and unloading areas and assists with loading and unloading.
  • Separates materials into groups based on the material makeup of products and weighs them
  • Ensures safe handling of hazardous materials that are heavy or bulky, or that may be potentially dangerous, such as glass and metals.
  • Cleans and maintains recycling equipment and facility throughout the day.
  • Attends all required training and meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may be Baler or Forklift Operator.
  • Separate recyclables into different groups by material, such as paper, glass, and metal
  • Use forklifts or other loaders to move materials onto conveyors or trucks
  • Clean work areas and materials to prepare them for recycling
  • Decontaminating: Remove hazardous or toxic substances from equipment or sites
  • Operate recycling equipment, forklifts, and other loaders
  • Provide information and assistance to customers and other site user


Skills & Requirements
Required Skills/Qualifications
  • Clear background investigation.
  • Clear driver's license and have reliable transportation to work
  • Maintenance Documentation completion and filing
  • Customer Service Skills
  • Excellent Organizational skills
  • Valid Driver's License

Physical Strength and Endurance
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs. and move heavy items repeatedly throughout the shift.

Manual Dexterity
  • Precise hand movements to accurately sort different types of recyclable materials.

Attention to Detail
  • Ability to identify and separate different recyclable materials accurately.

Teamwork
  • Collaborate with other recycling workers to maintain efficient workflow.

Ability to Follow Instructions
  • Adhere to established sorting guidelines and safety procedures.


Preferred Skills
  • Mechanical experience
  • Secret Clearance


Preferred Experience
  • Five (5) years of experience in general maintenance repair, operations maintenance, and facilities services.


Required Education
  • High School diploma or GED.


Preferred Education
  • Associate degree
Qualifications
