Systems Engineer

Full-Time with an Employee Owned and Best Places to Work Contractor

Onsite in Huntsville, AL | Schedule: 9x80

The Systems Engineer will support the IFICS Data Terminal (IDT) product team on the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) program, with a focus on hardware systems engineering, requirements, integration, test, and hardware/software interface definition.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform systems engineering activities including requirements decomposition, system design, requirements allocation, interface definition, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Support hardware-focused engineering efforts including mechanical/electrical hardware design, hardware interfaces, hardware fault analysis, testing, and hardware-to-software interface definition.
  • Conduct technical planning, trade studies, functional analysis, timeline analysis, cost/risk analysis, and supportability/effectiveness assessments.
  • Convert customer and product requirements into total system solutions that account for technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Use DOORS for requirements management and support MBSE/Cameo activities as applicable.
  • Work within an Agile framework, using Jira and Confluence to manage backlog items, track work, and document progress.


Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Active Secret Clearance required
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related STEM discipline.
  • 5 years of experience with a bachelor's degree, 3 years with a master's degree, or 1 year with a PhD.
  • Experience with hardware systems engineering, including hardware/software interfaces, mechanical and electrical hardware design, hardware interfaces, testing, and hardware fault analysis.
  • Experience performing system integration, verification and validation, requirements allocation, interface definition, and technical trade studies.
  • Prior experience using DOORS.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Cameo.
  • Familiarity with automated software requirements testing and analysis.
  • Familiarity with Agile terminology, Jira, Confluence, and Agile best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting Missile Defense, Ground-Based Midcourse Defense, or similar DoD weapon system programs.
  • Experience with MIL-STD-810 and Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT).
  • Experience with Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESA).
  • Experience with Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) per MIL-STD-461.
  • Experience with Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) per MIL-STD-464.
  • Experience with High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) requirements per MIL-STD-188-125-1 and MIL-STD-188-125-2.
  • Experience with Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) per MIL-HDBK-344.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, improving processes, or taking ownership of complex engineering tasks.
