Systems Engineer

Full-Time with an Employee Owned and Best Places to Work Contractor

Onsite in Huntsville, AL | Schedule: 9x80

The Systems Engineer will support the IFICS Data Terminal (IDT) product team on the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) program. This role focuses on hardware-centric systems engineering activities including requirements development, integration and test, hardware/software interfaces, and system verification within a fast-paced Agile environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform systems engineering activities including:
    • Requirements decomposition and allocation
    • System design and interface definition
    • System integration, verification, and validation
    • Hardware fault analysis and troubleshooting
    • Hardware/software interface definition
  • Support hardware-focused engineering efforts involving:
    • Mechanical and electrical hardware design
    • Hardware interfaces
    • Integration and testing activities
  • Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, and technical trade studies.
  • Perform technical planning, cost/risk analysis, and supportability/effectiveness assessments for total system solutions.
  • Translate customer and product requirements into hardware and software specifications while balancing technical, schedule,
  • and cost constraints.
  • Utilize DOORS for requirements management activities.
  • Support MBSE/Cameo modeling efforts.
  • Operate within an Agile development environment using Jira and Confluence for backlog management and documentation.


Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Active Secret Clearance required
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related STEM discipline.
  • 5 years of experience with a bachelor's degree, 3 years with a master's degree, or 1 year with a PhD.
  • Experience with:
    • Hardware systems engineering
    • Hardware/software interfaces
    • Mechanical and electrical hardware design
    • Hardware interfaces
    • Hardware integration and testing
    • Hardware fault analysis
  • Experience performing:
    • System integration
    • Verification and validation (V&V)
    • Requirements allocation
    • Interface definition
    • Technical trade studies
  • Experience using DOORS.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
    • Cameo
    • Agile methodologies and best practices
    • Automated software requirements testing and analysis

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting Missile Defense or related DoD weapon system programs.
  • Experience with:
    • MIL-STD-810
    • Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT)
    • Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESA)
    • Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) per MIL-STD-461
    • Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) per MIL-STD-464
    • High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) per MIL-STD-188-125-1/2
    • Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) per MIL-HDBK-344
  • Experience leading technical initiatives, process improvements, or mentoring engineering teams.
