Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Chief Software Architect. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program.

What You'll Get To Do:
• Develop the software architecture that the Software Chief Engineer and PM execute on.
• Key problem solver and advisor supporting the Software Chief Engineer, often deploying to help solve the hardest technical and process problems facing the team.
• You will be a leader and advocate implementing the Integrated Functional Capability Strategy across the program, working between all teams to ensure our architecture supports integration and incremental delivery

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. Relocation may be offered.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • 16 years with Bachelors in STEM or 14+ Years with Masters in STEM
  • 10 years of SW Experience (Experience in C++, real-time embedded software, and object-oriented design. Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debugging, and maintenance.)
  • 5 years of Hardware/Software integration with System architecture, design, requirements decomposition, hardware-in-the-loop, and simulation testing.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience with engineering metrics, schedule planning, and technical scope execution, utilizing Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
  • Active US Government Secret Clearance adjudicated in the last 6 years with ability to obtain SAP


These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • Experience in algorithmic application development and optimization.
  • Experience in real-time embedded software development, including real-time multi-threaded architecture design, w/ knowledge of guidance and control systems.
  • Experience with Integrity Operating Systems and/or VxWorks.
  • Experience with Visual Studio.
  • Experience with MATLAB.
  • Experience with Coverity, SonarCube, CodeSonar, Fortify.
  • Experience with the Atlassian tool set, Kubernetes, Model Based Engineering, GitLab, and DevSecOps best practices.
  • Excellent integration troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in building low-level code to interact with devices and hardware
  • Experience in compilation and link techniques for achieving memory usage and partitioning design objectives.
  • Familiarity with assembly and low-level code optimization.
  • Familiarity with Board Support Package development and test.
  • Proven experience solving challenging architectural problems in embedded systems


Primary Level Salary Range: $183,200.00 - $274,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
