Cyber Security Engineer

Job Description

This position requires onsite work at Kirtland Airforce Base in Albuquerque, NM and an active Secret security Clearance. Candidates who do not hold this clearance are not eligible for hire.

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Engineer with with specialized cyber security, network architecture, and risk management skills.

Day in the Life:

• Assist ISSM with implementation of DoD and USAF policies and development of processes and procedures.
• Help with the implementation of security controls in alignment with NIST SP 800-53 and DoD requirements.
• Prepare, update, and help manage the Authorization to Operate (ATO) package for the AFSEC systems.
• Maintain security posture through continuous monitoring of the system's authorization boundary, assessing documentation, and create POA&M items for remediation.
• Work alongside the Cyber Defense Analyst and SysOps Team to detect, report, and respond to security incidents and spills IAW DoD, Air Force, and AFSEC directives.
• Regularly review auditing dashboards in Splunk and AWS CloudWatch to look for anomalies.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Active Secret clearance is required
• A minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience.
• Bachelor's Degree
• Cultural fit amongst a collaborative team environment.
• Has the ability to work independently and apply proper procedures.
• Experience with eMASS and initiating and managing RMF steps and associated artifacts.
• Experience creating and managing Plan of Action and Milestone (POA&M)
• Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), STIGEvaluate, STIGManager
• CompTIA Security+ Certification or equivalent DoD 8140/8570 certification
• Experience with implementing NIST SP 800-53, Rev 5 security controls.
• Experience with STIGS and ACAS.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

• Experience with Splunk
• Experience with AWS GovCloud
• Experience with AWS CloudWatch
• Experience with 16 th AF Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP).
