In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist performing performance evaluations and safety testing on power and energy systems in accordance with established standards (e.g. NAVSEA S9310-AQ-SAF-010, MIL-STDs, etc.), mentoring junior employees, managing project budgets and schedules, communicating (written and oral) with program sponsors and the NAVSEA technical warrant holder community, and an understanding of the safety protocols for handling high-energy systems.

Professional Engineering Series (08XX) - Degree: A professional engineering degree from an ABET-accredited college or university; OR a degree with curriculum in differential and integral calculus, with additional courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics; or electronics; OR
Professional Engineering Series (08XX) - Substitution of Education/Experience: A combination of education and experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering; and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: (a) professional registration, (b) evidence of successfully passing the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination; (c) successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified above; or (d) successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a degree in engineering provided that it included at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. - You will manage numerous projects, people and facilities related to power source materials technology areas.
- You will serve as Department/Navy expert, advisor and consultant in electrochemical power source research, development, test and evaluation for military applications.
- You will provide the strategy for the design, characterization, processing, and testing of new or improved Lithium-ion power source technologies.
- You will provide advice, consultation, and reviewing services to all levels of Carderock Division management and technical personnel.
- You will plan, direct, and manage a wide range of projects for the analysis, design, development, safety testing, evaluation, and maintenance of Li-ion power sources and expeditionary power generation systems.
- You will develop and implement in-house instructional programs to advance the expertise of branch personnel in new analytical procedures, techniques, and equipment.
- You will supervise testing for acquisition programs, as well as testing potential COTS systems, other subsystems and processes.
