Duties
As a AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST (TERMINAL) TITLE 32 INDEFINITE, GS-2152-11, you will provide tower, radar, and non-radar air traffic control (ATC) services to military and civilian aircraft operating under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), Special Visual Flight Rules (SVFR), or Visual Flight Rules (VFR). Provides terminal ATC services to aircraft operating from primary and/or secondary airports within delegated airspace. Manages and directs controller actions and functions in Tower and Radar facilities as the primary watch supervisor and/or senior controller. Provides comprehensive on-the-job training for Air Force and Air National Guard personnel in accordance with Air Force, Air National Guard, FAA, and local policies and directives using live or automated air traffic, and formal classroom instruction. Ensures comprehensive training documentation is accomplished to accurately portray trainee status and capabilities."

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an INDEFINITE excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must have experience in a military or civilian air traffic facility that demonstrated possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the level of work of the specialization for which application is made. Experience must have provide extensive knowledge of appropriate air traffic control laws, rules, and regulations. Experience providing preflight and in-flight assistance to aircraft requiring a knowledge of the information pilots need to conduct safe flights and the ability to present that information clearly and concisely; and extensive knowledge in the development, coordination, and management of air traffic control programs.
Issuing control instructions and advice to pilots in the vicinity of airports to assure proper separation of aircraft and to expedite their safe and efficient movement. This specialization also requires:

This is an Indefinite/Temporary appointment, with a time limit determined by the needs f the agency. Current technicians selected will retain the appointment status they are currently in, (i.e., Permanent or Indefinite) and will be placed on a temporary promotion or other appropriate personnel action if selected for this position. Individuals from Area II and Area III will be appointed indefinite status. Conversion to permanent status may be accomplished if funding is approved.
