Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Windows / UNIX System Administrator to support a large-scale ERP modernization initiative within a highly regulated federal environment. This role is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise server infrastructure across Windows Server and Linux/UNIX platforms, with a strong focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
This position plays a key role in ensuring system stability, security, and performance, supporting mission-critical applications hosted across on-premises and cloud environments.
This is a 75% remote position with approximately 25% quarterly travel to the Washington, DC metro area.
Per our Federal Government Contract, candidates must be U.S. Citizens with an Active Secret Clearance .

Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and support Windows Server and RHEL/Linux operating systems across physical, virtual, and cloud environments
- Troubleshoot complex system issues, performance bottlenecks, and outages, providing timely resolution and escalation when needed
- Manage system patching, security hardening, and vulnerability remediation to ensure compliance with security standards
- Collaborate with network, database, and application teams to support integrated system operations
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues
- Support backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes, including validation and testing activities
- Participate in change management processes, including maintenance planning and communication of system impacts
- Maintain technical documentation, including system configurations and operational procedures
- Provide guidance and support to junior administrators and serve as a technical escalation point
- Stay current with evolving technologies, including virtualization and cloud platforms, to support continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required with an Active Secret Clearance or higher
- 5+ years of experience in system administration across Windows Server and Linux/UNIX environments, with strong expertise in RHEL
- Demonstrated ability to manage and support complex enterprise server environments
- Strong knowledge of system administration best practices, including patching, security, monitoring, and disaster recovery
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell and Bash/Shell
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker and/or Kubernetes is a plus
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience in a federal or highly regulated environment preferred
- Familiarity with security principles, including least-privilege access, is a plus
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred

- W2 Hourly rate starts at $74.65. Pay rates are based on experience and qualifications, and are subject to change at any time.
