Automated Testing QA Engineer – Journeyman
(Contingent Upon Award)
Location: 100% Remote
Please note: Position availability is contingent upon award.
The Automated Testing QA Engineer – Journeyman supports the design, development, and execution of automated test solutions for enterprise applications, websites, APIs, and digital platforms. This role works within Agile development teams to ensure software quality, performance, security, and reliability through comprehensive testing practices. The engineer collaborates closely with developers, business analysts, cybersecurity personnel, and DevSecOps teams to validate functionality, identify defects, and support continuous integration and delivery processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for web applications, APIs, and enterprise systems.
• Execute functional, integration, regression, and performance testing to validate system behavior against requirements.
• Collaborate with developers and business analysts to understand requirements, acceptance criteria, and expected system functionality.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and rapid delivery cycles.
• Identify, document, and track software defects using designated tracking tools; support defect triage and resolution processes.
• Validate fixes and enhancements through re-testing and regression testing activities.
• Support testing of applications hosted in AWS GovCloud environments, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with system requirements.
• Assist with development and execution of test plans, test cases, and test data management strategies.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to support security testing activities, including vulnerability validation and secure code verification.
• Analyze test results and provide detailed reporting on system quality, risks, and readiness for release.
• Maintain test documentation, automation frameworks, and testing standards to support repeatable and scalable QA processes.
Education: BS/BA degree and 5+ years of relevant quality assurance and automated testing experience (additional experience may be substituted in lieu of degree).
Certifications:
Mandatory: DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent). Personnel must maintain certification in accordance with DoD 8140/DCWF requirements.
Preferred: Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE), ISTQB Certification, or other relevant automated testing and QA certifications.
Security: Must hold or be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated Tier 3 investigation.
Specific Tools: Automated testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress), API testing tools (e.g., Postman), CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira), version control systems (e.g., Git), and scripting languages (e.g., Python or Java).
