Business Analyst – Journeyman
(Contingent Upon Award)
Location: 100% Remote
Please note: Position availability is contingent upon award.
The Business Analyst – Journeyman supports the analysis, documentation, and translation of business, functional, and technical requirements for enterprise applications, websites, and digital platforms. This role works closely with stakeholders, product owners, developers, QA engineers, and cybersecurity personnel to ensure requirements are clearly defined, aligned to mission needs, and implemented effectively within Agile development environments. The Business Analyst contributes to improving system functionality, user experience, and overall mission performance through data-driven insights and structured analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Elicit, analyze, and document business, functional, and technical requirements for applications and websites hosted in AWS GovCloud environments.
• Translate business needs into user stories, use cases, process flows, and acceptance criteria to support Agile software development.
• Collaborate with Cloud Architects and developers to ensure functional requirements align with cloud-native capabilities and technical constraints.
• Support backlog refinement and sprint planning by clarifying requirements and ensuring user stories meet "Definition of Ready" standards.
• Analyze existing business processes and workflows to identify gaps and opportunities for modernization and system enhancement.
• Assist in the development of business process models, data flows, and system diagrams to support solution design and cloud-hosted implementations.
• Validate system functionality against defined requirements through participation in testing and user acceptance activities.
• Coordinate with cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure documented requirements align with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and security standards.
• Maintain requirements traceability and ensure alignment between mission business needs and delivered technical solutions.
• Prepare and maintain documentation including requirements documents, user guides, process documentation, and briefing materials.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure shared understanding of complex requirements.
Education: BS/BA degree and 5+ years of relevant business analysis experience (additional experience may be substituted in lieu of degree).
Certifications:
Mandatory: DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent). Personnel must maintain certification in accordance with DoD 8140/DCWF requirements.
Preferred: Agile/Scrum certifications (e.g., CSM), AWS Cloud Practitioner, or other relevant business analysis certifications.
Security: Must hold or be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated Tier 3 investigation.
Specific Tools: Requirements management tools (Jira, Confluence), Microsoft Office Suite, process modeling tools (Visio), and collaboration platforms supporting Agile delivery.
