Job Description

Duties
Help
  • Oversee the adequacy of ammunition supply point operations.
  • Ensure munitions facilities and/or operations are conducted in accordance with regulations, policies, or procedures.
  • Utilize a variety of supply system automated reports/data to resolve problems and make improvements in warehouse procedures.
  • Promote improvements in ammunition procedures in multiple commodity areas for logistics.
  • Monitor the disposal of suspended munitions.
  • Coordinate with personnel on unserviceable ammunition to determine site of destruction.
  • Resolve questions concerning the usage of ammunition.
  • Coordinate with ammunition personnel on munitions training requirements or availability of stocks.
  • Approve and/or disapprove the issuance of ammunition.
  • Interpret regulations pertinent to the accountability and/or control of ammunition stockage.
  • Monitor ammunition personnel to ensure operational loads are properly requisitioned, received, stored, issued, or retrograded.
  • Ensure munitions stocks are properly accounted for or maintained during requisitioning, receiving, issuing, or storage.
  • Analyze workload data to develop long-range schedules and/or work requirements.
  • Determine resource requirements necessary to accomplish long-range work schedules.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and/or efficiency of an organization's ammunition supply operations.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with physical security requirements while operating an ammunition supply point.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret (Tier 3) security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Position requires pre-employment physical based on physical restrictions.
  • Subject to on-call and irregular work hours.
  • This is a Drug Testing-Designated Position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R and must pass a pre-employment drug test and subsequent periodic drug screenings thereafter.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban (Lautenberg Amendment). This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience which includes: (1) Managing an organization's ammunition supply operations; (2) Receiving, storing, issuing, and/or shipping ammunition, explosives, or related chemical agents; (3) Conducting and/or maintaining inventory accountability; and (4) Utilizing automated supply systems and/or databases to accomplish assignments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education

Some Federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Additional information

  • Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 13 Months by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five (5) years, however, return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
