Akamai Intelligence is seeking a Supervisory Access Security Officer (SASO) to lead and manage a team of Access Security Officers (ASOs) supporting the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) at Fort George G. Meade. The SASO is responsible for day-to-day supervision of access control and screening operations, ensuring consistent adherence to Post Orders, security policies, and customer requirements while maintaining a safe and secure environment for personnel, visitors, and assets. The role combines direct leadership, scheduling, quality assurance, and coordination with government counterparts, with the ability to perform ASO duties when needed.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide daily supervision, leadership, and direction to a team of Access Security Officers, ensuring all posts are staffed and operating in accordance with Post Orders and established procedures.
  • Oversee physical security screening and access control operations, including the use of metal detection equipment, X-ray screening equipment, and advanced imaging technology equipment.
  • Coordinate and approve duty rosters, shift schedules, post assignments, and coverage plans to meet mission requirements, including shift work, weekends, holidays, and surge support.
  • Monitor performance of ASOs at the lobby desk and other designated posts to ensure consistent enforcement of access control requirements and professional customer service.
  • Conduct spot checks, beginning-of-day and end-of-day inspections, and quality-assurance reviews to verify compliance with procedures, Post Orders, and security policies.
  • Serve as the primary on-shift point of contact for government representatives and facility management regarding physical access control and front-line security issues.
  • Oversee escort operations for visitors, vendors, and other personnel; ensure logs, visitor badges, and escorts are managed in accordance with site procedures.
  • Supervise operation and monitoring of access control systems, including report generation, temporary badge issuance, and monitoring of access events; review logs and reports for anomalies or trends.
  • Ensure regular security patrols are executed in accordance with established routes and schedules, and that observations, suspected violations, and incidents are promptly reported and documented.
  • Oversee package acceptance and courier deliveries, key control, and associated documentation to maintain accountability and chain-of-custody requirements.
  • Review incident reports, irregularity logs, and safety hazard reports; initiate follow-up actions, conduct basic fact-finding, and elevate issues to management and the government as required.
  • Train, coach, and mentor ASOs on screening techniques, customer service, report writing, Post Orders, and proper use of security equipment and systems.
  • Assist with onboarding and qualification of new ASOs, including validation of training completion, certification of post readiness, and periodic refresher training.
  • Support performance management activities, including providing input on evaluations, recognizing strong performance, and identifying and addressing performance or conduct issues in coordination with management and HR.
  • Ensure all team members follow applicable security policies, Post Orders, and company procedures, and maintain strict adherence to confidentiality and information protection requirements.
  • Perform ASO duties as needed to maintain coverage, respond to contingencies, or support high-volume periods.
