Job Description

Responsibilities

Arcfield is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our growing team of IT professionals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting local and enterprise-level networks, with expertise spanning Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), and remote network systems. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring optimal performance and security of network infrastructure, while also driving automation and innovation in network deployment and configuration processes.

The selected candidate will have experience working with Cisco and/or Juniper routers and switches and demonstrate an in-depth understanding of network protocols, IPv4/IPv6, routing (BGP, OSPF), and network security tools, as well as proficiency in diagnosing and resolving complex network issues. The candidate should also have a strong background in IT technology including servers, PCs, software and support.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, upgrade, maintain, and troubleshoot network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, modems, and servers.
  • Administer and support LAN/WAN environments - local and large enterprise.
  • Implement and troubleshoot network protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, Ethernet, and ATM (minimal).
  • Deploy and automate network configurations and services using Cisco NSO, with experience in Netconf/Yang or CLI NEDs.
  • Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot network performance issues to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
  • Configure and maintain IPv4 and IPv6 protocol suites, ensuring seamless communication between devices and networks.
  • Enhance network security through the integration and use of advanced tools and vulnerability analysis platforms.
  • Maintain, repair, optimize, and troubleshoot broadband, baseband, and fiber optic LAN systems.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to support Jenkins pipelines and perform testing for custom routing software.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 8-10 years' experience; MS with 6-8 years' experience or PhD with 3-5 years' experience in Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS) or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a network support role
  • Must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI DOD security clearance
  • Strong understanding of network hardware, software, protocols, and security in a client/server environment.
  • Possess experience with Cisco and/or related hubs/routers and have a solid background in Personal Computing (PC) technology including, but not limited to: desktop PC, PC server hardware & software selection, installation, administration, control, troubleshooting, and support.
  • Solid knowledge of LAN and WAN interconnecting hardware and network security requirements and issues.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and implementing network topologies for a broad range of user and customer environments in support of sophisticated ground stations or similar environments.
  • A strong background in the administration of Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs).
  • Proficiency in network tools like ISS, NetRanger, and nmap for vulnerability analysis and resolution.
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems, including bash scripting.
  • Certifications:
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing & Switching (CCNA)
    • Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA)
    • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) (Optional)
    • Juniper Networks Enterprise Routing and Switching, Specialist (JNCS-ENT) (Optional)
    • Juniper Networks Certified Specialist Security (Optional)

Preferred Qualifications (Optional):

  • Experience with advanced network technologies, including DWDM Transmission, using platforms from Cisco, Huawei, Nokia/Alcatel Lucent, and Juniper.
  • Familiarity with Netconf/Yang implementation and automation practices.
  • Previous experience with satellite-based IP routers
  • Proficient in network service provisioning using tools such as Apache, Sendmail, BIND, SSH, and DNS.
  • A proven track record of leading teams to develop test cases for custom routing software using open-source frameworks like mutest.
  • Knowledge of signal analysis and testing tools such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, time domain reflectometers (TDR), and cable scanners.
  • Experience supporting AWS-based infrastructure and DevOps pipelines for network-related projects.

Equal Pay Act

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
