We are a rapidly growing organization seeking experienced VDI / Citrix Virtualization Systems Administrators to provide 24x7x365 Tier III system administrative support to the JSP Core Service VDI/DaaS and Citrix environments. The successful candidate will operate, maintain, and modernize a virtual desktop platform supporting approximately 1,500 concurrent NIPR Citrix users and 500 concurrent SIPR Citrix users, plus associated VDI pools across NIPR, SIPR, and JWICS networks. This posting covers Citrix and VDI/DaaS Systems Administrator openings across the Pentagon and Hampton Roads sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate, update, and maintain the JSP Citrix capabilities, including Citrix images and the network appliances supporting Citrix (load balancers, NetScalers).
Configure, maintain, and sustain JSP and JPH VDI/DaaS desktop services; provide O&M, administration, desktop hosting, virtual machine, storage, directory, desktop connection, virtual management, and database services in coordination with other operational entities.
Maintain desktop image repositories and perform recomposes; develop and sustain virtualization of applications using Microsoft App-V, ThinApp, or SCCM/MECM, including creating, updating, and testing application packages and user profiles.
Perform management and maintenance of VMware software (vCenter, View, Horizon) and supporting hyper-converged infrastructure (Nutanix, Dell, HP).
Maintain VDI/Citrix servers including patching, monitoring, and STIG compliance; ensure all system applications remain operationally compliant with DoD and STIG standards and IAVA requirements.
Create and maintain VDI pools for user communities; develop and maintain SOPs for the VDI environment.
Use the JSP VDI monitoring tools to monitor session health and performance; identify, analyze, and resolve issues across configured systems, sub-components, application services, message flows, and communications ports.
Provide endpoint VDI client configuration support, baseline image and patch level maintenance, and recompose activities aligned with the published VDI Image Test and Deployment Schedule.
Coordinate with JSP/JPH branches for network connectivity, CSR space, physical/network security, DNS, and backup and restoral services for the virtual desktop solution.
Follow JSP Enterprise configuration management processes for all modifications and meet Group 1 restoral times (CCIR Priority 1 – 2 hours; Priority 2 – 4 hours; Priority 3 – 6 hours) more than 90% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications:
Five (5) or more years of hands-on experience administering Citrix (XenApp/XenDesktop/Virtual Apps and Desktops) and/or VMware Horizon VDI in a large enterprise environment.
Strong experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi 6.0 or greater, vCenter, and Horizon View; VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification strongly preferred.
Experience with Citrix supporting infrastructure including NetScaler/ADC and load balancers.
Working experience with application virtualization tools (Microsoft App-V, ThinApp) and software deployment via SCCM/MECM.
Knowledge of hyper-converged infrastructure platforms (Nutanix AOS, Dell, HP) and software-defined storage concepts.
Working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and CAC/PKI integration with virtual desktops.
Experience implementing DoD STIGs against VDI/Citrix components and supporting IAVM remediation.
Strong troubleshooting, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to support after-hours and on-call work for service restoration.
Education Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Telecommunications, Management Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and five (5) to seven (7) recent years of documented relevant experience.
Clearance Requirement:
U.S. Citizenship
Active Secret Clearance (or higher)
Must meet DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 IAT Level II baseline certification requirements prior to start (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or equivalent). Computing Environment certification appropriate to the role is also required.
Work Environment:
100% onsite at a government facility within the National Capital Region (NCR), primarily at the Pentagon, Crystal Gateway, Taylor Building, Mark Center, or other JSP-designated alternate site. Must be local to the DC Metro Area with reliable transportation.
Must comply with all DoD, DISA, and JSP security and access protocols, including the ability to access NIPRNet and SIPRNet environments.
