Job Description

Overview

Ask Sage, A BigBear.ai company, is seeking a Finance Operations Analyst who will support the recurring monthly work that keeps Finance moving: calculations, reporting schedules, data validation, billing support, customer and vendor contract tracking, and project-based process improvements.

This is not a heavy accounting role. The ideal person is strong in Excel, detail-oriented, curious, and comfortable helping with finance operations, revenue operations, billing data, contracts, and sales tax support as Ask Sage continues to scale.

Ask Sage a BigBear.ai company, is the leading Generative AI platform that augments the velocity of government and commercial teams with dozens of use cases from coding to cybersecurity to acquisition to data analysis and much more. Our FedRAMP High, DoD IL5, IL6, and Top Secret accredited cutting-edge technology enables teams to focus on strategic initiatives while we take care of the heavy lifting. Ask Sage is scaling teams, accelerating delivery, and continuing to be first-to-market on Generative AI solutions.

What you will do

  • Prepare and maintain recurring Excel-based analyses, trackers, schedules, and reporting files used by Finance and leadership.
  • Support monthly finance operations by completing recurring calculations, data pulls, variance support, and reporting updates.
  • Partner on pricing analysis by gathering and reviewing customer usage, contract terms, cost drivers, historical pricing, discounting, and margin considerations.
  • Provide reconciliation assistance by helping gather support, compare system outputs, research differences, and flag items that need review.
  • Assist with tracking customer contracts, including key dates, contract values, renewals, billing terms, customer details, and required reporting fields.
  • Work with leadership to track vendor contracts, including renewal dates, payment terms, contract owners, committed spend, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with billing operations, customer usage reporting, subscription data, and revenue-related calculations.
  • Assist with sales tax workflows; potential to implement a new system to move away from manual tracking.
  • Help maintain clean and accurate data across tools such as Stripe, Unanet, Monday.com, CRM systems, billing platforms, contract trackers, and internal finance workbooks.
  • Document recurring processes, build checklists, and help create repeatable workflows that reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
  • Support ad hoc projects related to scaling finance operations, improving reporting, cleaning data, and creating more reliable processes.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, Sales, Customer Success, Operations, and leadership to gather information, resolve open items, and improve data flow.

What you need to have

  • 3-5+ years of experience in finance operations, revenue operations, billing operations, FP&A support, business operations, sales operations, or a similar analytical role.
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, data cleaning, structured workbooks, and working with large data sets.
  • Comfortable owning recurring monthly tasks and meeting deadlines with accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies in customer, contract, billing, vendor, or financial data.
  • Ability to work independently, ask thoughtful questions, and follow through on open items.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, Accounting, Operations, Legal, Procurement, or leadership.
  • Comfortable documenting processes, maintaining trackers, and improving workflows.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain operational or financial data clearly.

What we'd like you to have

  • Experience in SaaS, GovTech, AI, software, public company, or high-growth startup environments.
  • Experience with Stripe Billing, Unanet, Monday.com, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar systems.
  • Experience tracking customer and vendor contracts, renewals, billing terms, and supporting documentation.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including Power Query, advanced formulas, and scalable reporting templates.
  • Experience improving manual processes or helping automate recurring workflows.
