Job Description:
About The Role:
- Independently develops and executes test scripts to ensure that quality software is provided for release to production and to certify system changes.
- Produces expert level test plan documents and requirements.
- Develops test control databases.
- Performs solution testing confirming business requirements.
- Maintains test databases and ensures their integrity and currency.
- Distributes test data from control database to development staff to satisfy adequate unit testing.
- Develops, compiles, documents, and runs automated test scripts and test procedures.
- Runs regression tests. Tracks status of defects.
- Provides quality assurance testing for all systems to ensure the development and distribution of quality products.
- Assists with roll-out of systems documentation.
- Produces lists of defects that are to be resolved and incorporated into future releases of the application as required.
- Communicates with analysts and programmers about formal testing plans, problems, and results.
- Develops technical documentation and reports.
- Manages the release management process for all changes to the baseline IT infrastructure.
- Ensures all processes are adhered to appropriately throughout project lifecycles.
- Ensures all existing processes are fully documented, suggesting improvements, updating documentation, and communicating all process changes to relevant stakeholders.
The Software Quality Assurance Engineering Advisor will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:
- Conduct technical reviews of DT&E plans, procedures, and reports.
- Provide oversight of informal/formal DT&E events.
- Develop plans, procedures, and reports for system testing performed.
- Support and conduct system tests on releases and patches.
- Provide oral and written feedback and coordinate with stakeholders including FM employees and contractors.
- Some shift work may be required based on lab availability.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of study including STEM, business, finance, computer science, IT, and 2 or more years of relevant experience; 4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Experience developing test plans, procedures, and reports.
- Linux operating system experience with the ability to read/debug/analyze Linux system log files.
- Client Office experience {i.e., Client Word and Excel).
- Candidate must be located near Egg Harbor Township, NJ or near the FAA Tech Center - testing is required on site.
- Strong understanding of Quality Assurance / Test Engineering.
- ISTQB Certification fundamentals; certification not required but if they have it then they should know what they're doing.
- They must know the difference between test cases, test approaches, etc.
- Test Documentation experience.
- Requirements analysis.
- FAA Domain Knowledge.
- Air Traffic Organization.
- How traffic control works.
- Experience with ERAM or STARS systems / data.
- Data Analytics.
- Ability to work with disparate and/or unorganized data sets.
- Data modeling.
- Data visualization.
- Extract Transform Load (ETL) data.
- V&V (Verification & Validation)/T&E(Test & Evaluation) Engineer - Level 1, 2+ years.
- Performs formal system testing activities for a particular project or subset of a larger project under supervision of more experienced personnel.
- Performs analysis of documented user requirements and directs or assists in the design of test plans in support of user requirements.
- Participates in all phases of risk management assessment and system development.
- Responsible for ensuring that the test design and documentation support all applicable clients, agency or industry standards, timelines and budgets.
- Responsible for ensuring test conclusions and recommendations are fully supported by test results.
- Bachelor's degree in physical sciences (e.g., mathematics, physics, meteorology, chemistry, etc.), computer science, information systems, information technology, engineering, business, finance, administration, or other related/relevant discipline.
- 5 years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
- Master's Degree or MBA in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience.
- PhD in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 7 years' experience.
- Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of study including STEM, business, finance, computer science, IT and 1 or 5 or more years of relevant experience; master's degree and 1- or 2-years relevant experience; or 4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Experience developing test plans, procedures, and reports for FAA systems.
- Experience testing the FAA's TFMS or FAA ERAM.
- Experience with Oracle SQL and/or Oracle SQL Developer.
- Able to review and develop test scenarios that mimic the FAA National Airspace System {NAS).
- Knowledge/experience in the FAA SWIM NEMS area.
- Advanced Client Excel experience including the creation of Macros.
