The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles AFB, CA is searching for a Chief for Information Protection to support SBD 3 (NH-008-04, GS-14/15 Equivalent).

Description:
The Chief of Information Protection serves as the Senior Security Advisor to the Delta Commander. In this capacity, you will lead a converged security program encompassing INFOSEC, PERSEC, INDSEC, CUI, and Insider Threat programs. Your mission is to ensure the secure accomplishment of Delta missions by mitigating risks to mission-related assets, including sensitive and classified information, technology, and personnel.

Key Responsibilities:
- Exercises supervisory personnel management
- Leads and directs SBD 3 Information Protection activities (INFOSEC, PERSEC, INDSEC, CUI, Insider Threat); ensures secure mission accomplishment; and provides risk-based analyses and countermeasures to the Delta Commander.
- Serves as the primary risk management advisor; executes risk assessments across all functional areas; identifies gaps in policy; and educates personnel on espionage and human intelligence collection techniques.
- Represents the organization with DoD, USAF, USSF, and SSC; maintains effective working relationships with mission partners; and prepares comprehensive reports and policies for SBD 3/CC.

Qualifications:
- Professional knowledge of the full spectrum of security disciplines, including Information, Personnel, Industrial, and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) protocols.
- Ability to formulate and articulate strategic plans, metric systems, and analysis systems to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of security initiatives.
- Experience providing risk-based recommendations to senior military and civilian leaders regarding emerging technology and future security projects.
- Proven ability to manage a diverse workforce, including selecting candidates, developing performance standards, and fostering a secure work environment.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Mastery knowledge of a wide range of security specialties, concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, analytical theories and practices.
2. Knowledge of the intelligence enterprise to support and promote information sharing and strategies,
applying broad or in-depth expertise in highly complex and ambiguous situations.
3. Ability to plan, organize and direct the functions of a staff in a small to large sized organization.
4. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful mission accomplishment
5. Ability to lead and motivate employees
6. Strong writing and oral communication skills to inform and persuade.
7. Ability to think strategically

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • PCS / relocation funding is authorized.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): 15 days a year.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
  • Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, "Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
  • Incumbents on this position may need to be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling the position during an emergency are not available.
  • This position is designated emergency essential, and employee must sign DD Form 2365 accepting conditions of employment related to that designation per DODD 1404.10.
  • This position is a designated national security position.
  • The completion of one of the following security courses: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification under the DoDDevelopment program ,Instructor-led DoD Security Specialist course or the Air Force Security Manager Program curriculum
