Job Summary Cubic | DTECH Mission Solutions empowers clients to achieve their strategic objectives through cutting-edge Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities. We deliver seamlessly integrated mission solutions in secure communications, tactical networking, and C2ISR that provide a decisive advantage in multi-domain operations while significantly reducing Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) and life-cycle costs.

As a Principal Sales Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor to U.S. Air Force and joint Department of War (DOW) customers, combining deep domain expertise in tactical communications with advanced edge networking and compute technologies. You will lead technical engagement, solution architecture, and sales support for complex opportunities in secure, resilient communications systems. This role is critical to the 2026-2027 growth strategy for DTECH Mission Solutions division.

What You'll Do
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with USAF A6 (Communications) program offices, joint program offices, and operational stakeholders by deeply understanding their mission objectives, communication requirements, and integration challenges across the Department of Defense.
  • Architect and present compelling, customized solutions that integrate modern tactical communication systems with edge networking and compute capabilities to meet USAF and joint force needs.
  • Provide expert technical consultation on the deployment, integration, and optimization of tactical network equipment, radios, tactical networks, and related C4ISR technologies.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to develop innovative proposals, respond to RFPs, and deliver high-impact technical presentations and demonstrations.
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, including Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC), Zero Trust architectures, distributed cloud environments, AI-enabled networking, and software-defined communications.
  • Conceptualize, design, document, and support test plans for solutions based on customer requirements.
  • Develop and communicate system architectures that clearly link technical capabilities to mission requirements and joint interoperability needs.
  • Support internal and external design reviews, customer demonstrations, and program status meetings.
  • Provide technical direction to engineering and production teams and contribute to the development of training materials.
  • Travel regularly (3-5 days per month, occasionally up to 10-15 days) to customer sites, exercises, and industry events.

Tactical Communications Expertise (Required) Demonstrated experience with U.S. Air Force and joint tactical communication systems, including:
  • Handheld/Manpack Radios: AN/PRC-163 (Falcon IV), AN/PRC-152/152A (Falcon III), AN/PRC-117 series (e.g., PRC-117G), and AN/PRC-148 (MBITR).
  • Airborne Radios: AN/ARC-210 (including RT-2036(C) and variants), SINCGARS (AN/ARC-222, AN/ARC-201D), and AN/ARC-186.
  • Specialized Systems: Next Generation Survival Radio (NGSR), Link 16/MIDS JTRS terminals, and supporting HF systems such as AN/ARC-190.

Strong understanding of how the USAF integrates these systems in joint operations with other DoD services, including Tactical Air Control Parties (TACP), close air support, command and control, and multi-domain networking environments.

What You'll Bring
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in a Sales Engineer, Systems Engineer, or technical sales role focused on tactical communications, C4ISR, or secured networking.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline (Master's preferred).
  • Deep knowledge of modern edge technologies: Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) architectures, Zero Trust deployment, distributed/cloud networking, VMware, Linux, Microsoft environments, and low-level computing concepts.
  • Proven expertise in baseband/IP networking (routers, switches, firewalls), transport security (IPSec, Suite B, Type-1 cryptographic equipment, CSfC), and deployed communications including SATCOM, 4G/5G, MANET/MESH, and satellite carriers (Starlink, L3Harris, Inmarsat, etc.).
  • Industry certifications (Cisco, CISSP, AWS/Azure/Google Cloud, VMware, etc.) highly desired.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and customer engagement skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into mission impact.
  • Can-do attitude, strong analytical/problem-solving abilities, and comfort operating under deadlines and constraints.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
