Job Summary
We are currently seeking an Airport Safety Technician. This is a full-time on-site position located in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.
Airport Safety Technicians maintain facilities, vehicles and other assets and fabricate project related mockups, equipment, or prototype devices. They perform firefighting operations during testing. Work includes exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Firefighting operations involves wearing personal protective equipment. The candidate will work under the supervision of a senior technician.
Work schedules are the Government's regular working hours, Monday - Friday, and 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities
- Perform tasks such as welding, fabricating, basic electrical tasks, and installation of sensors.
- Help troubleshoot and conduct maintenance on equipment (small engines, vehicles, machine tools)
- Perform firefighting operations during testing.
- Follow safety policy and procedures.
- Report activities and completed work according to procedures.
Key Qualifications
- Associates degree in a related field; three (3) years of applicable experience or High school diploma; five (5) years of experience demonstrating or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in electrical / mechanical / fabrication skills.
- Experience testing various electrical or mechanical components.
- Experience in firefighting
- Experience wearing and willingness to wear personal protective equipment including full or half-faced respirators or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
- Ability to lift equipment weighing 50lbs.
- Ability to withstand exposure to outdoor summer and winter temperatures.
- Must have a valid state issued driver's license.
- This candidate must demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision/direction from senior project personnel.
- Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Occasional travel (e.g., 2-3 times per year) may be required.
- Sole US Citizenship with eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating common machining tools such as mills, lathes, and drill presses.
- Experience with hydraulic systems, mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Experience as a forklift operator.
- Experience and/or specific knowledge of airport related research activities is preferred. This airport safety research related experience must include specific knowledge of airport safety research task areas, or closely related tasks.
Compensation Data
- Battelle is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The hourly range for this role is $21 - $28/hr, in addition to our comprehensive benefits package. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, skills, and certifications. Salary ranges may vary based on geographic location and market conditions.
