Peraton is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel, International and Trade Compliance. This position supports the Peraton Legal Department and works closely with Peraton's Trade Compliance team, Peraton's senior management, outside counsel and other members of the Legal Department to support and advise on international business operations and trade compliance.

Target Salary Range: $176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

About The Role
Peraton is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel, International and Trade Compliance. This position supports the Peraton Legal Department and works closely with Peraton's Trade Compliance team, Peraton's senior management, outside counsel and other members of the Legal Department to support and advise on international business operations and trade compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and counsel to company leadership, business sectors and its Trade Compliance function regarding international business operations, trade compliance and sanctions.
- Lead the company's Trade Compliance Program, including:
- Supervise a team of approximately six trade compliance professionals
- Advising on U.S. and applicable non-U.S. international trade and sanctions laws and regulations, including changes in laws, regulations and government directives;
- Overseeing the preparation, submission and administration of export license applications, technical assistance agreements and Commerce licenses; validate applicability of ITAR exemptions and EAR exceptions.
- Ensure export and import records are maintained per U.S. Regulatory requirements and company policy.
- Overseeing trade compliance risk assessments, audits and diligence reviews to identify and address potential compliance gaps.
- Provide counsel on the Company's international business operations, including on requirements for establishing a legal presence in the jurisdiction, applicability of Status of Forces Agreements (SOFA) or similar inter-country agreements to Company programs and requirements for compliance with local labor and other laws for personnel performing work in those jurisdictions.
- Review proposals, contracts and/or purchase orders for international and trade compliance requirements and participate in technical programmatic discussions/meetings for business area programs and technologies to ensure compliance with those requirements.
- Conduct trade compliance training to company personnel and oversee the company's trade compliance training program.
- Cultivate a high performing team by providing strategic direction, development, coaching and mentorship to the Company's Trade Compliance team.
Qualifications

- US Citizenship
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Top-Secret clearance
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited US law school
- Member in good standing of the bar in at least one US jurisdiction
- A minimum of 16 years of professional experience as an attorney with substantial government, corporate in-house and/or law firm experience preferably in the federal contracting industry, with a minimum of 5 of those years involving significant work on matters relating to trade compliance and international business operations.
- Preference for candidate with experience managing trade compliance function.
- Deep understanding of trade compliance and sanctions laws of the U.S. and other countries, including the ITAR and EAR and the processes for Customs, BATFE and OFAC
- Familiarity with technical tools for managing trade activities
- Experience leading and managing teams
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to employees and management at all levels
- Ability to think critically and develop creative and practical solutions
- Highly adaptable to change; ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-moving environment
