Position Title: Orthopedic Technician
Division: Advancia Aeronautics
Location: San Diego, California
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Hourly (SCA)
Position Summary
Advancia Aeronautics is committed to placing people first as we accelerate healthcare delivery and provide superior health readiness for military and federal communities across the globe. We are seeking an orthopedic technician for a long-term contract providing personal medical services in support of the Department of Defense (DoD) at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) and its associated Naval Branch Health Clinics. As part of the Advancia Aeronautics team, healthcare workers (HCWs) will support Navy Medicine operations by delivering medical services to active-duty military personnel, their dependents, eligible DoD civilian employees, retirees, and other authorized beneficiaries designated by the Government.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Assists physicians with patient care; properly fits and applies pre-operative braces, crutches, and other soft goods; assists in preparation for and application of casts and orthopedic appliances; changes dressings; removes sutures, casts, and splints.
• Assists physicians and nurses with orthopedic procedures, including wound care, aspirations, minor surgical procedures, and fracture reductions; instructs patients in cast and traction care and the use of orthopedic appliances.
• Maintains clean and well-stocked cast and soft goods room; orders special supplies and/or equipment.
• Coordinates data collection resources for the clinic information systems.
• Remains current with orthopedic trends, care and supplies; performs other duties as assigned
Education & Experience Requirements
• High School Diploma
• Certification by American Society of Orthopedic Professionals (ASOP) or National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists. (NBCOT)
• One year of experience within the last two years as an orthopedic technician in an accredited hospital clinical setting
Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands
• Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0600 -1800 hours. Shifts will normally be scheduled for an 8.5, 9.5 or 10.5-hour period, to include an uncompensated 30-minute or 60-minute lunch break, respectively. In no instance will the Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) HCW be required to provide services more than 80 hours per two-week period
• Requires long periods of standing, walking, bending, lifting and carrying moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
• Must be a United States citizen, successfully pass an extensive government background investigation, and receive government client approval
