This is a Mission Essential Position. A position may be designated as mission essential, consistent with the criteria described in DoD Instruction (DoDl) 3020.42, "Defense Continuity Plan Development," dated February 17, 2006, certified as current as of October 29, 2019, and any other component-unique policies or definitions. Mission essential positions are those that are needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of an activity. Mission Essential designations are not prescribed by DTM 17-004. This decision is based on the type of work and supporting activities necessary to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations essential to the mission. This position is not E -E, or Key.
This position requires that the incumbent obtain and maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification via command sponsored CPR training and annual refresher training which is offered during working hours.
This position requires the incumbent to perform temporary duty travel (approximately 25%) which may be on short notice and/or for extended periods of time.

PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation.
Tour Length: 36 months.
- You will provide technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports (CASREPS) or requests for technical assistance affecting assigned subsystems, frequently on TAD, etc.
- You will perform functional checkout, assessment, adjustment, and test of new or modernized shipboard systems in a systems qualifications test environment (mostly at sea) with primary responsibility for operation of major AN/SPY-1 RADAR subsystems.
- You will have primary responsibility for familiarizing organizational level maintenance personnel in troubleshooting techniques, maintenance policies, and the like.
- You will provide direction of test programs and evaluations of repairs required in situations of major damage or deterioration.
- You will participate in ordnance alterations (ORDALTs), ship alterations, and field changes (FCs) which include actual hands-on modification of components, quality assurance of contractor, etc.
- You will be responsible in evaluating through research and testing the compatibility and interoperability of currently installed and planned installations of AN/SPY- 1 RADAR onboard afloat units.
