Job Description

Duties

  • You will be responsible for material support required for supply and handling from job planning to job execution.
  • You will have control of the supply and distribution of Pre-Positioned Retail Material which may include hazardous material.
  • You will monitor and maintain PPRM material usage and workforce demand patterns to recommend restock amounts and recommend changes to range/depth of inventory.
  • You will manage and ensure proper stock levels and balances are maintained and ensures low stock items are on order to avoid the unavailability of essential inventory items.
  • You will establish material expediting procedures, receive and process order cancellations, provide status updates and modified, and follow up on material receipts and resolve unfilled orders.
  • You will develop and implement standard operating procedures, desk guides, instructions, qualification cards, strategies, etc.
  • You will provide authoritative advice and recommendations on approved alternate sources of supply in efforts to provide material support for specific projects, work operations, and/or programs.
  • You will investigate, coordinate, and process requisitions requiring corrective actions to allow for them to properly flow through automated systems.
  • You will elevate unresolved, difficult, or complex order management problems to upper management.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to relocate, at government expense, to either Garden Island or Rockingham, Australia when directed by the employing activity.
Qualifications

For GS-11 position:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in supply chain and supply stock system operations and procedures including: 1. executing comprehensive material management practices to ensure the successful fulfillment of shipyard mission requirements. 2. Managing administrative procedures for material acquisition and procurement while identifying the most efficient path to expedite material requirements. 3. Implementing material management protocols governing the storage, distribution, and disposal of all materials, with full compliance for hazardous materials (HAZMAT).

For GS-09 position:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting with supply chain and supply stock system operations and procedures including: 1. executing comprehensive material management practices to ensure the successful fulfillment of shipyard mission requirements. 2. Managing administrative procedures for material acquisition and procurement while identifying the most efficient path to expedite material requirements. 3. Implementing material management protocols governing the storage, distribution, and disposal of all materials, with full compliance for hazardous materials (HAZMAT).

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For GS-11 position:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related

For GS-09 position:
master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
