Job Description

Duties

  • You will serve as a communication conduit between units operating within a range complex and emergency response agencies.
  • You will coordinate real time scheduling and authorized use of firing ranges, training facilities, maneuver areas, and special use airspace.
  • You will control airspace of range training areas by utilizing knowledge of aircraft performance parameters (i.e. airspeed, altitude, etc.) to ensure safety of combat training and readiness events.
  • You will follow policies, principles and procedures regarding de-conflict combat readiness events.
  • You will execute real time scheduling to ensure availability of firing ranges, training facility, maneuver areas and special use airspace for training operations.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assisting or contributing to the Risk Management process; Providing determinations or guidance as to the types of Special Use Airspace; Processing and approving of range requests; AND/OR providing real-time control of approved range activities.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify for the GS-11 position based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:

Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

OR

Have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

OR

Have successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.

OR

Have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
