Duties
Help

• You will determine the repairs needed through testing or inspecting of assigned plumbing equipment.
• You will examine pipes and system components (e.g., flushometers, temperature control regulating valves, mixing valves) to determine if parts need to be repaired or replaced.
• You will operate standard machines of the trade (e.g., pipe machines, welding equipment, burning equipment, silver solder equipment) to accomplish plumbing projects.
• You will inspect components of existing systems (e.g., water heaters, disposal units) and plumbing fixtures (e.g., bath tubs, showers sinks, faucets, toilets) for functionality.

• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Plumber without more than normal supervision such as cutting, bending, threading, and assembling pipes, fittings, couplings, unions, traps, and valves. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
