Job Description

Duties

  • You will supervise, provide guidance to ensure workload is understood, and review daily correspondence for detail and accuracy.
  • You are required to make rapid and sound decisions.
  • You will monitor training programs, evaluate instructors, and identify development and training needs of employees,
  • You will respond to alarms and serve as Senior Fire Officer and/or Incident Commander.
  • You will administer public fire education programs and coordinate public speakers in selected engagements.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will work a 60 hour weekly, 120 hour bi-weekly embedded schedule consisting of (1) 24 hour shift and (4) 9 hour shifts.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: .1) Identifying potential hazards associated with fire suppression, rescue operations, and hazardous materials; 2) Implementing fire protection and prevention training programs and projects; and 3) Providing guidance on fire prevention programs to ensure compliance with organizational policies.

Certification Requirements: The incumbent of this position must possess the following certifications: Firefighter I & II, Airport Firefighter, Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, HazMat Technician and Hazmat Incident Commander. Firefighter related certificates must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard to meet the certification requirement. Must Also possess NATIONAL REGISTERED EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (NREMT) certification. ALL CERTIFICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION OR YOU WILL BE RATED INELIGIBLE.
